When Princess Andromeda is told that she will be wed to a prince she's never met, she decides she only has one choice: run away from Carican, the only world she's ever known. Disguising her features, she grabs her best friend since childhood-Avax-and as much wumpa fruit as she can carry and highjacks the nearest spaceship. After a long journey, nearly out of fuel, Andromeda and Avax spot a little planet with almost as much water as there is on Carican. They land - crash land, Avax corrects sarcastically - and Andromeda's translator tells her she's landed in a place called Sulani.

"Soo-lay-knee?" Andromeda tries to pronounce, the word sounding strange on her lips. "I've never heard of such a place. Think they're friendly?" The natives were definitely oddly colored, of that she could say for sure."I've heard of this place! Those that live here walk around with plumbobs on their head!" Avax says worriedly. "Oh come now, you and I both know that's a tale the elders would tell us to keep us on our best behavior." Still, living on this new planet would definitely be an adjustment...
