- No open world doesn't bug me too much, for now at least. We'll see once I start playing the game! But yeah Rabbit holes really annoyed me in TS3, not only was it boring staring at a building but I found if building my own world (I used CAW a lot), the buildings would never fit with what I wanted in my world. Hopefully we will get an EP where we can build our own stuff :D it seems more likely with the districts they've created with TS4. IT's almost like going back to TS1!!
- Well since I tended to spend like 98% of my time with the camera on my home lot, I only ever used a small fraction of the other lots in the world anyways. So apart from the loading screens it won't really affect my gameplay at all and I doubt that I'll have a problem with the world being smaller and having less lots. Also, as we all know, the world will grow with every expansion now, which I believe is the greatest thing about the new system.
- When I first heard that there was going to be no open world in TS4, I was pretty bummed. But, over time, I think that the balance the team has found between completely open and completely closed will be perfect. I hated the rabbit holes in TS3, just staring at the inside of a shell of a building was boring. @Lucky25, I can't wait for that EP or update when we can build our own stuff either. I would be thrilled!
@Ogodei, I also spend 99% of my time on my home lot. I like that there will still be sims jogging by, going for a walk, or just stopping by to visit though. I think if they went back to TS1 style, I would really miss feeling 'included' in the neighborhood.
I didn't play The Sims 3 as much because of the open world. So no, I'm glad it's gone.- ADashofAsh90Seasoned VanguardNah, I'm warming up to it. I spent most of my time on the home lot other than going to community lots, and even then I'd rather not watch the car travel, so it's all good. My only wish/concern is that they expand these worlds with each new EP/SP, so that there's more to do. So, maybe an area with mountains in the distance would have part of the mountain removed or something in a new EP. Stuff like that. :)
- I was actually kind of happy about it.
- No it's 50/50 to me. I like how they made it look like a full town but I hate how restricted we are to a neighborhood we can't go and explore with sims. it's definitely going to reduce lagging and rendering sims, but i also like to explore.
regardless either way I would be building my own Town Hall, Police Station/Jail, Cathedral, possibly a fire station, and School etc for story reasons. - suzsesSeasoned NewcomerI actually had my sims out and about more in Sims 3 than ever before, but I'm an outdoors lover IRL, so having my sims walk the dog or bike to the pool appealed to me, probably more than to other people. I also liked having the whole town visible, even if that meant rabbit holes. I had plenty of fun in Sims2 before 3 came out, but I found I didn't want to go back once I moved on. Since I obviously haven't played Sims 4 yet, I have no idea how I'll feel about it.
- I played all three Sims version games, TS3 was the very first open world. I liked it because you travel all over the town by walking, driving etc without loading off the screen like TS2. Hey its like going back TS2, might not be that bad sense SimGuruGraham and Vaughan show official gameplay walk through trailer on TS4 sims going to gym off loading screen. I'll get use to it again Lol.
- I'm fine with it, but I won't really know until I have had time to play the game.
