- It doesn't bother me at all. I am hoping the game will run more smoothly without it.
- I dont mind losing the open world if it means more populated lots. I hate how empty my towns always feel...how I send a sim to a lot and then no one is there. After a while a couple people show up but my sims often feel like they are living in a ghost town. Its sad when a dance club only has a bartender and one lonely person on the dance floor. So if not having an open world fixes that, I am good.
- For me I noticed I had more sims on lots after I uninstalled pets. Not sure why that made a difference for me but it did. I'm going to miss the open world, bookstore, library, and grocery store. I didn't use the other ones much.
- zombie_kayla11 years agoNew VeteranHonestly I think I might possibly miss the open world, but if it means that my game won't lag as much then I'll be extremely happy. I liked going around the world in TS3 but it created havoc on my computer. I don't care about a loading screen. I was fine with it in TS2 so I'll be fine with it in TS4. I guess I just have to play it to be absolutely sure though.
- Lack of rabbit holes is pleasing, so no, for me not having an open world isn't a big issue. The only time that I would go to the place of employment or to the school in the sim 3 was to get the sim to jog or ride their horse home. I'm pretty sure that I can accomplish the same thing with jogging at the park or in the neighbourhood. Taking a quick trip around the house a couple of times will work too. As for the loading screen, it just gives me time to very quickly, very quickly grab that thing to eat or to drink from the fridge. I like how the sims 4 looks and the way we push and pull our sims to make them into what we want them to be. We'll have to wait and see how I feel about the game itself until after it launches. :)
- I see a lot of people being glad about losing the open world (and along with it, exploration, collecting, horses, building and placing your own lots for custom neighborhoods, beautiful scenic maps, and a realistic gameworld feel) because of rabbit holes and the possibility of going into restaurants. What I find puzzling is where are they going to put all of these brand new walk-in venues, when you consider how hopelessly small the actual worlds are now going to be; and with the lots actually being significantly smaller, it's not like you're going to build two venues in one lot (tastefully) like you could do with Sims 3. I also fear a return of the 'virtual Sim' who "appears" but actually has no home lot.
- yokihijo11 years agoRising NoviceI liked both, so either way I'm happy. - I do feel like in Sims 2 when I were on a lot, since I didn't want to face another loading screen and so I spent more time on that lot, and I was more invested in that lot and the stories taking place on that lot, and my Sims on that lot, it felt like an on-going narrative, however on Sims 3 I found I got distracted so easily, if I'd go to a lot, next 5 seconds I'd be somewhere else, it didn't feel as narrative based. I had fond memories of both. I'm happy with going back to the Sims 2 style as it currently stands, it just felt more confined and intimate to that household and their collective story.
- I agree with SpringFairy556. I know it's going to be easier, so they say, on your computer, but I've invested so much money into these Sims games, I'm not starting over just because a Corp decides to make me do so. I cancelled my pre-order. I'm not starting over with another round of this. Two more years, or so and they will have a Sims 5, and we start over again. Nope, i'm going to enjoy my Sims 3 and Sims 2 and I hope those that invest, enjoy the game, but I don't have the funds and time to start over again.... and again....So no, I'm saying no to this Sims investment. If it had not gone backwards, then I might have, but after finding all the things it's "not" having compared to the little extra it does and trying the Sims Demo to create a Sim, which is not up to what I expected, well, it's quite negative for me, more cons than pros.
No Thank you, EA. You lose this round.
Jalune Deveraux - Initially I was really bummed out by this as I loved the open world a lot. But after seeing the map and the list of things that weren't in The Sims 4, I came to peace with it. There are no schools, work, libraries, supermarkets etc. so I never have to leave the lot anyways. I may miss it in further expansion packs but for now I'm all good.
- phyllisp16011 years agoSeasoned AceI was never that impressed with TS3 open world and rabbit holes. Looking forward to seeing exactly how things work in TS4.
