BESTIES Challenge [NEW]

Based on the TV show FRIENDS, I bring you the BESTIES challenge! All living in the same apartment building, this challenge follows a group of Sims as they journey from strangers to inseparable BESTIES over their Young Adult life. Watch as they grow and change, achieving key goals before Adulthood!

Starting Rules:


  • Create 6 Sims – each with different aspirations and from all different walks of life
  • None of the BESTIES can start with any romantic relationships
  • Make all BESTIES Young Adults
  • They must all be living in the same apartment building (or neighborhood)
  • The BESTIES must be split between apartments (or lots) in the building (or neighborhood). At least 2 of the apartments (or lots) have at least 2 Sims living in them. Cycle between each apartment playing all the Sims!
  • Apartments (or lots) can only be furnished with base funds. Every BESTIE must have a separate room. No money cheats.


The Goals:


  • To complete the challenge, every BESTIE must complete at least ONE of the following goals:
  • Dream Big - Have a BESTIE complete their aspiration* (see note) in full OR get to the top of their chosen career OR have them reach max level fame
  • Loved Up - Have a BESTIE enter a committed long term relationship with another Sim, have them get engaged, and eventually move to the suburbs together. They can only move to the suburbs when all other BESTIES goals are complete (on the final day in the apartment building). They may move in together sooner into an apartment but only in the same building as the other BESTIES.
  • Doting Parent - Have a BESTIE have a baby and raise them until they’ve completed their ‘child’ age. This goal can only be started when a Sim is halfway through young adulthood and has either A) reached maximum love and friendship with the Sim (to get pregnant/get someone pregnant) OR B) reached level 5 in their career and has 10,000 simoleons of their own money (adoption). Your child must live with you, and if you have a partner you can move them in.


How to win the Challenge:


  • Once all BESTIES have completed their goals (and all ‘Loved Up’ BESTIES have met the initial requirements) it’s time for them to start their next phase in life. Have a joint birthday party for all of your BESTIES, and move them into their new homes in the suburbs, ending one of the most special times in their life...
  • Congratulations, you have completed the BESTIES challenge!


I am currently streaming this Challenge on my Twitch channel, so it is still a WIP. I'll add in another comment with notes mentioned and some initial thoughts/musings about how this challenge could work in various scenarios or parameters!

    Notes/Suggestions:


    • *It is best to NOT choose the following aspirations for the ‘Dream Big’ goal: Successful Lineage, Big Happy Family, Super Parent. This is because they conflict with the ‘Doting Parent’ goal, and require you to be an adult to complete. Similarly, it will be hard to complete ‘Mansion Baron’ as it requires you landscaping your home, not available if you’re in an apartment.
    • If a BESTIE ages up to an adult the challenge has failed. The idea is that this is their 20’s/Young Adulthood.
    • You can set the Lifespan to whatever you like, but personally, ‘Normal’ is too short and ‘Long’ is too long so I will set a custom 60 - 80 day lifespan for my Sims with MC Command Center. Not sure how it will go – I’ll share updates!
    • Outside of the general parameters the story is up to you. Your BESTIES can do anything, and be anyone! Maybe you want to base them off the TV characters, maybe you want them to fit your own parameters – make your own story!
    • For storyline purposes I think the City Living and Get Famous packs add great value/opportunity within the story. For example, with City Living I can have all of my BESTIES in the same apartment building as neighbors – I am going to spread them all between the 4 apartments in Culpepper House. You could arrange your BESTIES in any way you like, but I think having them spread over 2+ apartments is more fun and realistic. The more apartments the better!
    • If you want to you could put a crazy neighbor in the building for entertainment/story arcs (similar to the series; they had Mr Heckles/U**y N**ed Guy from across the road)
    • If a BESTIE’s partner moves in I think they should only be able to bring a set amount of money, around $5,000 simoleons. But again, this is your call!
    • If any of the BESTIES sharing an apartment move out, take away the corresponding percentage of the funds from the apartment they move out of, and move it into the new one i.e. If 1 BESTIE moves out of a 3 BESTIE apartment, that 1 BESTIE takes 1/3 of the money.
    • The ending of the challenge is based on the final episode of the series where everyone moves on to new things on the same day. I think this is a nice way to round it off, hence my decision to make this the official ending, plus have the ‘Loved Up’ challenge only be able to be technically finished on the final day.
