ENTRY DETAILS: I haven't played the sims in months, but I came home from visiting my in-laws yesterday and on a whim decided to check this month's BNS. It sounded fun and, crazy person that I am, I decided this morning that I'd try to do it, never imagining that I'd even come close to finishing in time. But here we are. I even stayed within the budget. Should probably actually be talking about my build though. Apologies for the level of rambling in this, I'm very tired.
I put a lot of information in the slideshow. It's a large greenhouse surrounded by a small garden. The greenhouse serves as an event venue during the warm months, but a functional greenhouse during the colder months, helping to feed the community. It has solar panels, a water purification system, and solar water heating. I chose a very simple style for the garden because I wanted the focus to be on the greenhouse (and also I didn't have much time). It's a more formal garden, which I haven't built before. I had a lot of fun adding different animal topiaries. They've each got lighting hidden in the flowers so They're visible at night. I wanted sort of a subtle terraced look. It's not as smooth as I'd like it to be though. I got to use my favorite "Bae Window" from laundry day, which always seems to look a little weird in builds, but it's perfect here. I wish the doors came in a medium variant. I think I'm off topic again, sorry, it's late at night. I had a lot of fun building this. It's very simple, but I'm quite happy with how it turned out. I had a picture in my head of what I wanted the bathrooms to look like, which was never going to work because it involved exterior fences, so I'm glad I tried out one of the public bathrooms because it comes really close. The building isn't technically a building because of that, but I ended up loving how the exterior lighting worked in this space, it really sells the greenhouse for me. There are 12 animals in the build (statues and topiaries). None of them are particularly hidden, but you can still try to find all of them!
I envisioned this as having a coop ownership model. Members of the coop are local community members and farmers. They helped fund the project and can all benefit from using the space. It's not big or super fancy, but it's a great place to hold an event or come hang out for an afternoon.
