Craftsman Legacy Challenge Rules
I've been really bored in lockdown (haven't we all...), and I decided to attempt the legacy challenge again, and I failed. Again. It's really hard to keep up with motivation for that sort of thing. But then I decided to modify the standard rules a little, into something I'm enjoying playing a lot more. I told my adapted rules to my friend as well, and she's been enjoying playing them out too. So I decided to write up the rules of my legacy adaption (the 'Craftsman Challenge') here, for all of you to play as well. The general mood on the forums has been a little negative lately, so I hope this will cheer people up a little.
Anyhow, here's how to set up and play your Craftsman Challenge. The only pack it requires is Cats & Dogs, and it's easily adaptable to play without.
I do not have Eco Lifestyle, but my friend does and she says that the challenge is a lot more fun if you don't use items that generate power or water for you, as that effectively gets rid of the off-the-grid trait. So bear that in mind. And, of course, if you do attempt this challenge or have any questions please just drop a comment here!
Apologies in advance for any spelling mistakes. My computers spellcheck is a little crazy, and I'm from the UK so I might have spelled some words using English variants. If so, sorry.

Anyhow, here's how to set up and play your Craftsman Challenge. The only pack it requires is Cats & Dogs, and it's easily adaptable to play without.
- Select 'New Game' from the title screen.
- Create a young adult sim in cas (they can be any occult except for vampire). They will be your legacy founder.
- Seasons only: Start in spring. Make sure to enable thunderstorms, blizzards, and temperature effects. Set season length to 14 days.
- Move your founder sim onto the 'Hounds Head' lot in Brindleton Bay. Bulldoze the lot.
- Set lifespan to Short.
- Add the 'Off-The-Grid' lot trait to your home lot. This may never be removed.
- Your sim can only travel using the boats that take them inbetween the lighthouse, coast, and docks. Realm of magic only: If your sim is a spellcaster, they can use their glimmerstone (or transplortate) to go to the magic realm ONCE in their lives, no more.
- No sims may ever have any kind of job (if you move in a sim with one, they must quit immediately).
- Any sims you move in must not take any money from their former household into yours. If they do bring any in, delete it.
- Gardening is not allowed. Sims may harvest from wild plants in the area, but must not grow any on their home lot.
- You must not edit any lot except the home lot.
- You can only play the household on your home lot. The firstborn child of the founder or last heir is the new heir, and must never be moved away.
- When you move away a sim, you must have them take with them $10,000. To compensate for this, you are allowed to move in as many sims as you want (provided you do it via your sims asking them to move in).
- No cheats are allowed except when the challenge warrents it (i.e. cheating away your sims money at the start). Moveobjects is allowed for building, and you can use debug (for LANDSCAPING ONLY) from generation three onward.
