I have some ideas in development. I did finish a rags to riches style challenge, Left High and Dry. So, I'll be pulling from that experience.
For starters, I've noticed issues with gallery sims that I use the money cheat on, and I plan to do a rags to riches style challenge without cheats. The bugs I ran into with instant infinite money after loading with negative funds did not have a fix without using cheats and reloading a saved household.
Anyways, my challenge idea pack requirements are as follows:
City Living
Eco Living
My challenge idea is as follows:
Stage 1:
Use all of the starting funds to build a house using only the lowest quality appliances and objects.
The house must be built from stuff with an industrial foot print.
Required Lot Traits for Stage 1:
Landfill Lot
(Trash gets dumped on the lot and shifts faster toward industrial)
Reduce and Recycle
(Outdoor Trash Cans are no longer bottomless)
Filthy
(Places like counters and bathrooms get dirty faster)
This is just the starting point.
However, the stages are still things I'm thinking about.
The general idea is that you start with a really poor quality lot, and the conditions should quickly shift from neutral to industrial.
If you have university, jobs can be limited by level of education. Part time jobs for a pre-high school and high school degree. Jobs that your sim leaves the lot for but is unplayable can be after a college degree. A second college degree or an improvement in the eco footprint can lead to a job where you can go to work with your sim or own a business.
Different stages would have appliances and objects with different levels.
City living has used appliances and furniture. It also has wallpaper and floors to match. I noticed that things like beds and kitchen appliances fulfill needs better at different levels.
I would probably use different level milestones for different skills to mark the different stages.
For example, the handiness skill can broken up by the levels that let you upgrade different rooms starting with the bathroom. Level 5 cooking unlocks gourmet cooking and could be a part of the level increments. Logic could be argued as something that is required to restore a run down home in a way that pushes it toward being green. I believe there is a challenge posted somewhere that has a lot of this spelled out already. I'll try to find a link.
