Following The Fords - Legacy Story

It’s the final morning waking up in the gorgeous snowy lodge for the couple, but Mila isn’t feeling too well!

She puts it down to the excitement of yesterdays adventures and gets dressed for the day, feeling much better as they eat breakfast and chat about todays plans

They decide to take a walk in Sembamachi, the oldest town in Mount Komorebi, known as ‘the town of a thousand leaves’ – in this neighbourhood there is a beautiful trail with lots of ancient sights to see

They walk along the trail and soon encounter something very magical: forest spirits!

Mila remembers reading about these in her Mount Komorebi guidebook: it is said you can make a wish to them and that they bring you luck! Both Mila and Zack bow to the spirits and silently make their wishes as they disappear from sight!

I wonder if their wish will come true! They continue along the trail, full of inspiration and wonder at their rare sighting!

Soon enough they reach the first sight on the path; the old Sembamachi graveyard. Tradition says that these are the graves of the first settlers in Mount Komorebi, and that good luck is brought to those who place a gift at one of the tombstones

They decide to do exactly that, taking a moment of quiet reflection and paying their respects to the ancestors

The couple continue on their hike and come to the next sight, The Mountain Temple

It’s a gorgeous building with traditional architecture, and has a peaceful aura around it. At the front is an Ema Board where locals and tourists are welcome to leave wishes and messages.

Zach and Mila of course decide to follow this tradition and leave wishes of their own

Heading back along the path towards the final sight, they cross a bridge and take a moment to enjoy the scenery: the bamboo forest is absolutely gorgeous!

Then they reach the final sight on their tour, the cave shrine

They check out the shrine and decide to take part in one final tradition: listening back to your echo from within the cave! They take a deep breath and shout into the cave

And listen as their echoes call back to them

Then it’s time to head back towards the town, out of the bamboo forest. What beautiful sights they’ve seen!
Back in Sembamachi, the couple decide to order some food

Before heading back to the lodge to pack up. Mila sat down while Zach loaded up the car, feeling a sadness in her stomach at the idea of leaving this gorgeous place

Or was it sadness? She rushes to the bathroom and is sick once again! Oh no! I guess those Avocado Rolls didn’t agree with her tummy!

With Mila still feeling a little under the weather, the couple say a fond goodbye to their honeymoon lodge and head home

Finally, back in their own bed after a wonderful honeymoon!

And that’s all for today! What a fantastic time the newlyweds had on their honeymoon, I’m so sad it’s over! But now it’s back to their lives; to jobs, friends and married life. What will happen next? Find out next time!
