Idea: The Sims 4 "Four Year Dev Cycle" Challenge

The Canonical 4 Year Alt Universe Sims 4 Experience

6 expansions: Get to Work, Get Together, City Living, Cats and Dogs, Seasons, Get Famous

6 game packs: Outdoor Retreat, Spa Day (NO REFRESH), Dine Out, Vampires, Parenthood, Jungle Adventure

13 Stuff Packs Party, Patio, Kitchen, Spooky, Movie, Garden, Kids, Backyard, Glamour, Bowling, Fitness, Toddler, Laundry

Imagine, if you will, a world...where The Sims 4 had a 4 year lifespan like Sims 1, 2, and 3. The above is all the content you get, ever. Disable everything else...and play in the universe where we got nothing else. Where we have no ghost revamp. We have no Werewolves, no Magic, no Fairies! No horses. No active High School. No university. No custom apartments. No custom venues. No custom dates. And no kits.

Play like this...FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE! (spooky thunder noises and scary musical sting)

Could you do it for even a couple months?

  • Nope. I'd lose :P

I didn't even play Sims 3 till Supernatural, and didn't even play Sims 4 till L&D, and I'd need at the very least RoM—and to be perfectly honest, I planned to never play Sims 4, I was waiting for Sims 5 XD But between the announcement there was no Sims 5 coming and seeing L&D preview (with slight Sims 4 curiosity with RoM) I decided to try. I also only have, what less than 1/2 the packs maybe, and no kits (only 9 of the first 4 years) and most I have are the occults and newer packs (13 that are not listed above).

  • Technically the sims 3 had five year life span 2009-2013.The finally piece of content was released on 2014 at the store. The last venue of amuee

We that notice I suggest we add island living.,Discovery and Unversity and Realm of magic.Yes,that would be fine for me

  • How on earth is this a "feedback" post? Do the mods spin a wheel and whatever it lands on, that's where they move threads?

I swear sometimes moderators don't even read the posts—they saw "Idea" and assumed.

Actually, easily. I have for long been tempted to have generational challenge starting with only base game.

I've seen a lot of talk lately about legacies where each generation adds a new pack, sometimes in pack release order. Sounds a bit slow for me tbh

I did that a while back, with each generation adding a year's worth of content, for seven generations (2014-2020). I actually had a lot of fun with it.

I wrote up the challenge for the pre-Pack Selection era, with complicated instructions for avoiding content that wasn't "unlocked" yet, but I'm thinking of re-writing it for use with the Pack Selection tool.

I would still use James Turner method, as theres bit mixed feelings about new feature.

But yes I have been really tempted to try it out. After all these days basegame has way more than in beginning.
