Legacy Challenge Questions...

Okay, so I'm currently trying to attempt a legacy challenge (again). But I have a couple of slightly dumb questions that I'm unsure of the answers to - I'm not above bending the rules a little (link to my challenge variation is in my signature), but it's really unclear what they're trying to say in the first case, and the second is more of a matter of opinion. Neither will really impact my gameplay, but I'm curious.
So, here are my questions:
Firstly, my legacy challenge founder is still an adult, and alive. But my legacy heir is now a young adult. Am I still in generation 1 (as my founder is still alive/not an elder), or am I now in generation 2 (as my heir is a young adult)?
Secondly, what do I do with spares? This is a completely opinion-based question, but should I move them out, keep them in, or what? My founder needs four grandkids to complete her aspiration, and as she has two daughters plus the heir, how should I proceed?
And also, do you guys have any questions of your own?
  • @Queenarella - thank you! I'll bear all that in mind and hop over to the other thread if I have any more questions. :) you've been super helpful.
  • I'm not an expert on legacy challenges but I'm quite far in my own. Maybe I can help you :)

Most legacy players (I've read some and they all do this) start a new generation once the heir is a young adult. I think this part is something you're free to choose tho.

With spares, you can do whatever you want. You can keep them and have them pop out some nooboos or you move them out and have your heir get 4 kids. The only rule you need to "obey" is that once a spare has moved out, they can't move back in. Anything else is up to you.

There are many simmers who play legacy challenges and who have questions. They usually ask them on the Legacy Mega Thread :) EuphorialQueen used to answer every question (she even asked Pinstar and his wife about some things) but unfortunately, she's passed away :/

I hope this helps at least a bit
