Carly was really beginning to bond with Jessica. Maybe she realized that John was becoming overwhelmed looking after the chickens, the cow, his career, and his child. Or maybe she just really enjoyed the black-and-white animal. Either way, John was thankful that she was giving Jessica the attention she deserved.
