Notes: I may have an unfair advantage having been born and raised in SF where the 60's truly exploded. If you're looking for modern-day hippies, you're far more likely to find what I created in my Hippie Yurt Commune, which is far less colorful but much more "back to earth" based. Re: the name, for those who may not know, the cross streets of Haight and Ashbury were known as the hippie epicenter in SF.
Backstory: This commune is a flashback to San Francisco in the late '60s. The city may have moved on but this group of hippies & their kids are determined to hold onto their roots. The group is made up of four kids, one teenager, three parents, & two couples. They do their best to grow their own food, as much as one can living in a big city, and enjoy having company over to tune in and chill out in their large backyard.
