Hi Simmers! I have been watching a YouTuber simmer, Salise Plays, who, I believe, created this challenge. It's a rags to riches challenge where your sim starts with nothing on an empty lot with 0 sim...
The next day, Allie was happy to see that the onion she had planted was ready to harvest, as well as the wild potato on her lot, and the onion at the river's shore. The dirt pile did not spawn. While at the Wakaba River, she gathered water. It was freezing today and I quickly had her change into her winter clothing.
In her entire week in the Wakaba neighborhood, no snow stayed on the ground for her to collect.
Making Simoleons & Food Needs:
Allie's main source of income was the most dangerous pastime of buying and selling simmie capsules. When the simmie capsule was stuck and she shook it, she got battered and bruised with one bandage moodlet. But she was fine. She could continue to collect simmie capsules or shake the vending machine.
However, when she shook the vending machine and then got the two bandage moodlet, this was a warning sign that if she shook that vending machine again, she might die from the vending machine death.
In fact, she collected all the simmie capsules to complete the Simmie Capsule Collection.
Sometimes Allie was lucky, and one of the vending machines was in a "stuck" state when she got there, and so she just shook it and retrieved the item. This happened several times with the cold food vending machine, and she got a spoiled cupcake and an apple (which she planted).
Resources were limited, but Allie was lucky to be able to plant right in the ground. So, her garden consisted of onion and potato plants, which she harvested and sold daily.
And, of course she did "borrow" food items from sims who placed it on the picnic table.
She made good use of the Food stall, and haggled for her meals.
Near the food stall, there was a garbage can where she sometimes could rummage for items. She found a postcard and a carrot (which she planted).
The End if Near: There was not much to do in the neighborhood, but there was a pop-up skating rink near the square. Allie became quite good at skating by the end of the week.
She was also attacked by bats while collecting water at the Wakaba Rive near nightfall. Twice! She got a negative moodlet when this happened. There is bat deterrent which she could have purchased in the bits and bobbles vending machine, but I wanted to save her simoleons for her house.
To make the Off-The-Grid recipe of Forager's Stew, Allie needed Level 2 in Cooking, so I purchased her a bookshelf and a Level 1 Cookbook. She was unable to grill baked potatoes on the grill on the shore, as the recipe also called for 1 herb and cheese, as well as potato, so no baked potatoes for Allie.
And, of course, she met lots of sims and made some friends.
And, then it was New Year's Eve. Because of all the simoleons she made selling simmie capsules, her house was finished by Wednesday. She invited friends over for a New Year's Eve Party and it was a success.
Finished House & Final Stats: Allie's house was a Japanese-inspired house (The pillars are de-bug items).
Allie made a lot of simoleons in this neighborhood, and was even able to afford a chess table and chairs. The free apple and carrot that she got were planted in planters under shelter. She was able to harvest the apple tree and make fruit salad. Her cooking skills were so good that she maxed the cooking skill. She also got the Foodie trait.
I had purchased a hot pot to place on the kotatsu table, but when Allie tried to use it, it would not work. So, apparently the hot pot is not an off-the-grid item, although it wasn't greyed out. I then sold it again since she couldn't use it.
When Spring arrived, Allie had $1,724 simoleons left. She had survived her week in Mt. Komorebi, Wakaba neighborhood in winter. Congratulations, Allie!
The Next Neighborhood: Using the randomized wheel spinner, Allie will next travel to Newcrest to the Llama Lagoon neighborhood. Until next time...
