PHOTOGRAPHY ADDITIONS!

I would like to see some new photography options in TS4.

I would love to see an easier option to take a photograph of your sim without needing to cheat another sim to take it for you, and I'm not talking about selfies here!
The photography studio should have the option to hire a photographer, where we can control the shots they take. The shots those include could be as follows:
We should be able to take family photos. Want to capture the memory of your family before your precious daughter moves away? Get a family photo!
Another option could be to take maternity photos, for your pregnant sims, with or without their significant other(if they have one).Don't you want to show off that belly?
Or how about marriage photos? Having a wedding? Hire a photographer to snap those lovey-dovey shots!

In addition to the above, I think we should have the option to place the taken photo on a surface again like in TS3. It can be just as simple as it was before; where you just drag the photo from your inventory onto a desk or shelf and have it be a standing frame rather than on the wall.

Lastly, while in the camera interaction we should be able to cycle through a series of poses depending on the current sim's mood.

So to sum it up, I would love to see:
-Non selfie photography options in the photo studio
-Family portraits
-Wedding photos
-Maternity photos
-Pose cycles

The sad truth - which may hurt - is the game already allows for this.

Technically-speaking the game allows you to set up for a third-party (ie you, not a Sim) to take a picture - so you can have ALL of your Sims in a picture and you do not need a third-party Sim to take the photo - you don't even need another Sim.

TS4 has this capability - it is a basic function, we are just no allowed to have it - but the game supports it.

The whole wedding photographer idea - it's all in the game - if you bypass having an actual Sim being an actual photographer.

The photography booth thing they gave us is basically a pretend restriction - it is smoke and mirrors.

    Anybody can simulate restrictions.

The idea of a camera in TS4 that a Sim can use is a limitation to the simulation of real-life - Maxis know this and they know what Simmers want.

Photography in TS4 has no real-world restrictions, other than what Maxis ties it to.

It's just a fact of life.

When you play the game, you can freely move the game camera around and you can take a picture - a screenshot - with little limitation. Well, there is no real reason why you cannot do this to take an in-game picture for an in-game photo.

    It's as easy as that.

There's not much for Maxis to do to allow you to have this - it's not like they have to have a meeting and discuss how they implement this. It certainly will have taken them a hell of a lot longer to have a meeting to limit how a Sim could take a photo than how they could not.
  • We need all of this! I am tired of the boring poses we currently have. Plus, I would love a family photo! I was playing last night and I was thinking how I would love to add some of my recent photos to the dressers.

I am already aware that we can take captures by moving our game cameras how we want them, but I want to be able to put those captures into the game save file and up on the wall.

I agree to all of them.
We do have family photos as a free addition. Just find the family portrait in My Collection under Free Stuff in main menu. This is used to promote The Sims Mobile. Click on that family portrait icon and a window pops up saying it's for The Sims Mobile owners. You need to enter any phone number and it'll get a message with a code for free items while you immediately get a new item: family portrait.
You can go to SimsVIP to watch its interactions.

This family photo, is it only available within the mobile version of the game though? Because I'm looking for something for the pc version.

Yeah And real portraits. they way ii've been doing it for years is just so much work, worth it, but so much work.
young pose players, although I do find crafting back drops fun.

like this one was one of my favorites, because it was simple. I did it using an easel

I love that photo. What a great prom pose for teens or a wedding pose.

So, you have a pose mod and edited the photo outside of the game then?
  • @TheRipperPrince that portrait is beautiful. The dress itself is magnificent. It reminds me of my favorite gown in TS3.

As for your original post: Yup. All of that. Those were some of my requests in a recent member poll about careers. I want would like a photography career and an expanded skill very much.

This is an in game portrait, I used andrews pose player mod, and then I used the Photography studio in the skills catalog, as a backdrop, set to black. and then I used move objects to put an easel by the camera, and had another sim, Leonardo Da Vinci, paint her.

Step 1 is positioning the sim.
Step 2 is setting up the back drop around them in build mode with the method of taking the picture, easel/camera.
  • @MasonGamer I see, so it's a painting. It doesn't have the grainy effect as some painting-portraits I've done before have had. But that's actually not a bad idea. Do you happen to have a link to the pose mod?

    Andrew's Pose Player: http://sims4studio.com/thread/2617/andrews-studio

and then search poses you want your sim to pose in.

Also, There's this filter mod, like Photos, you can apply filters to paintings, to make it look like a fine portrait
