Randomized Aspiration Tasks

I would love to see, especially for kids, the ability to have the things sims have to do in order to complete an aspiration generated randomly from a larger pool of options. So I'm not doing the exact same thing in the exact same order for each kid with a motor aspiration. Kid one could need to cross the monkey bars first while kid two might need to swim for and hour or do an outdoor activity and kid 3 might need to have a water balloon right or something. There are lot of other activities the kids can do to to increase their skills that aren't included in the aspirations. But if I could get more variation in the existing aspiration activities for the kids then the 4 base aspirations wouldn't be so bad. Also then you could increase the pool of activities with each new expansion so if you add a Rock Band pack my kid can now have "Join a band" as one of the randomly assigned tasks in their aspiration. With this system my Motor loving children could have had snowboarding or skiing as motor activities.

The same would be good for adults. I enjoy the game but it gets old playing the same tasks over and over again. Randomizing a larger pool of activities would help with that.
  • I love this idea. Maybe there could be three pools of tasks- easy, medium and hard, and they could be used like so:

    Tier 1: Only easy tasks
    Tier 2: Easy and medium
    Tier 3: medium and hard
    Tier 4: hard

Though there might need to be a way to prevent duplicate goals (no "reach level 5 painting" goal twice)

If one wanted to get even more fancy with it, maybe the various goals could be weighted depending on traits. A geek with the writing aspiration might be more likely to want to publish a certain number of scifi books, a perfectionist might want to make a certain number of high quality items, an evil sim with the master vampire might want to use a malicious power on X number of sims, etc.

That last one could be a lot of fun, giving the player more reason to use certain powers.

Yes! this is exactly what I was thinking. There could be a "core" like get 10 in creativity is always in the last group. get a 5 is always in the middle group. I really love the idea of it being linked to traits. I'm not a computer programmer but I feel like an algorithm could be written to compare the traits to the tasks and randomize them.
