I love Gwen. She experiences the world in such a different way. She is fascinating to me and I'm glad to finally be able to explore more of her story.
Robert Jordan pulled a lot of names from mythology. Arianrhiod (or Arianrhod) was a figure in Welsh mythology... probably originally a goddess associated with the stars before shifts in belief changed her story. A world of dreams named for a goddess of stars. Jordan had a good sense of worldbuilding...
Of course, Jordan isn't the only one to pull names from mythology. :) Gwen's mother and grandmother, Ceridwen, are both named after Welsh enchantresses (or goddesses) and Gwen's own full name - Gwenivar - would now be more commonly written in as Guinevere.
