Welcome back, builders! After a brief hiatus, the Build-n-Share Sims 4 challenge is back and better than ever. We're laying new foundations in a fresh forum, ready to welcome both new faces and returning veterans. As we gear up for our first build on this exciting new platform, we're also gearing up to celebrate a milestone — Build-n-Share's 10th birthday this August! So, dust off your virtual blueprints and get ready to create, because this celebration is all about honoring the creativity and community that have made the last decade unforgettable. Let's build not just structures, but memories, stories, and friendships that will stand the test of time. Here's to the next chapter in our shared Sims saga!
This challenge will be extra long, running until August 31st to give everyone who wants to participate a chance to complete their builds. Starting with #BNS184, we’ll be back to our one-month format.
For this challenge, you’re asked to look back, connecting the past to the future. Pick one of your Sims 3 builds and recreate it using the Sims 4, using all of the new build tools and features. If you didn’t play the Sims 3 or don’t have any way to get images of your Sims 3 build to recreate it, choose the earliest of your Sims 4 builds that you can find, either on the gallery or in your game. Add that pool or multilevel deck or the L-shaped stairs you always thought would make the build perfect but which weren’t possible at the time. Take a Sims 3 apartment building and turn it into a residential rental using For Rent. Add a basement under a recreated Sims 3 house with a foundation. The only limit is your imagination.
Twist; Represent the number 10 in some way in your build - it could be the same object used 10 times, two objects used five times, or five objects used twice. Even a house with 10 rooms or 10 steps leading up to the front porch would count. If you use objects, be sure to let us know what you picked.
THE BRIEF
Budget: $250,000
Lot size: Any. If you can’t find a Sims 4 lot the same size as the Sims 3 one, pick one as close as possible.
Recreate a build of your own from either The Sims 3 or the Sims 4. Make sure it’s the oldest you can find if you pick the Sims 4.
You can add levels or rooms to the original home, just make sure to include at least one exterior shot of how it used to look.
Houses can be any size.
Remember to landscape.
Sim Challenge
Recreate the sims family who lived in your chosen house using all new CAS features - body hair, nails, scars, likes and dislikes, etc. Reuse their original traits or give them new ones. For sims based on the Sims 3, give them new aspirations in place of their Lifetime Wishes.
Room Challenge
Budget: 10000
Pick just one room to update or recreate. Find some way to display something new to the Sims 4’s build mode since you first built it. It could be the new light switch or free-placed windows and doors for example.

ENTRY DETAILS: (Tell us about your lot.) A family home for a couple and four toddlers, situated on a beautiful lot in Sulani. Did you know that Baker-Miller pink is well known to be the most calming color and is used to reduce anxiety and aggression? :) (The house has a lot of pink, as it is a calming color for me.)

The original lot was Constructed in 2018. This lot is a perfect countryside home and looks much better in Henford-on-Bagley than in Brindleton, where I first constructed it. The revamped lot features lush landscaping and uses free window placements that weren't available when the lot was first built. Cows were just a dream back then and horses! I was able to turn the garage into a functional stable. Platforms became a game-changer. Finally, I could create a proper sunken living enhancing its charm. Plus unlike the original, this home is fully furnished.

ENTRY DETAILS: In Sims 3 I made a Reno Challenge for one of ADWilson's wonderful building Gift Exchanges called All Hallows: Not Quite A Runaway Success about Clara, a free spirited teen who ran away to live an abandoned church where a prim and proper ghost Ada resided. I loved all the stories people made with the church and its inhabitants, so I’ve remade the All Hallows building with Sims 4 with 10 large church windows, and instead of it being run down it’s as full of life as those stories were

ENTRY DETAILS: This lot was the first saved house i had in Sims 4. I found it as a challenge for renovating the home. Back then I did not do much, but now, years later, I have improved it a lot. This home is designed as a duplex (I do not have For Rent, but could be easily turned into 2 separate units. The first home with the front entrance is for a mixed family. The dad is a professor, had an affair with one of his students, and married her after getting her pregnant. the teenage daughter from his first marriage hates her dad and her new stepmom and spends most of the time in her room. The second side of the home is for an older Jewish family, that includes 2 parents and their teenage son who loves football, wanting to go to britechester for a football scholarship. The 10 item challenge was done with 10 candles in the second household

ENTRY DETAILS: I'm doing this on mobile, so please excuse me if the links are wonky or there are grammatical errors (I never want to do this again on mobile lol). I tried to set it up as best as I could in notes on computer before and did like half of the imgur image descriptions on computer before I had to get on the road.
This lot is the very oldest Sims 4 save that I could find from 2021. I lost earlier saves at one point when my computer was upgraded, and didn't play Sims 3 (did play Sims 2 on console, but it's long gone). Unfortunately I don't have time to upload and submit the family or a room, but you can see the family in the pictures and get to know them a little bit by their rooms :)I 'm not very sure of what build feature has been released at one point, other than the recently released curved pools which I used, but I certainly used a lot more different things than what I knew back then- not-strsight stairs, platforms, the functional (!!) swin-up pool bar, and so on. The journey from the old lot to what I can do now is certainly something!
The house is supposedly a converted old factory. Originally it was a "Reno" of The Old Salt House in San Myshuno, and still has a similar vibe, although elevated now. I decided against using the old house as a shell challenge and made it a bit smaller, although I still needed a lot of space to accommodate a family of 8. It's more modern now. The style is a mix of modern industrial luxe, and reflects especially the family's parents favorite colors in the common spaces. Each child's (although almost all of them are Young Adults by now) room also reflects their character and their favorite colors and styles, though they take after their parents a lot.

Experience the ultimate tropical getaway in this exquisite beach house on Sulani island. Designed for up to 10 guests (10!), this modern gem boasts four spacious bedrooms, three and a half luxurious bathrooms, and breathtaking ocean views.
-- I made quite a few changes to my first gallery house, 'Pools and Light' house from 2018. It is amazing that now we have platforms, I struggled with foundations to mimic the same effect, and also used an inclined roof to imitate a 'square' contemporary box for the front of the house that we now can also do with platforms. The beach lot by itself was also a revolution at the same. Finally back in the day I used MOO to create a lounger by connecting a chair and an ottoman. Scrappy days!

ENTRY DETAILS: This was the oldest build of mine, which I could find (on my Library). I had built it 2020 (I've been playing The Sims 4 since 2017, and first I had mainly been renovating/renewing the existing builds in the game. Later I did also start building my own builds, but some of the older builds has been deleted, so this build was the oldest I could find. I didn't play The Sims 3). This build was originally on the 30x20 size lot (Hare Square -lot) in Windenburg, and I decided to move it to a little bit bigger, 30x30 size lot, so that there is more space for landscaping as well. It's now located on the Harbor Quarter Gym -lot. As new features that I could now use (since the original version was built), I used platforms, and they were now great for building a proper stage for the two Music Halls. I used platform for the roof as well (I had built this Concert Hall before the Platform tool -update had came). I also wanted the place to look more luxurious, so I've used many decorative details. This Community lot was originally labeled as a Cafe, but I changed the lot type and it's now a Lounge (which fits better to its purpose. As for the 10 years -part of the Challenge: I have used 10 clef statues - they are "in two parts" (5+5): on both sides of the building.

ENTRY DETAILS: I never played The Sims 3 online so my story begins with my very first upload to The Sims 4 Gallery with a Contemporary Bungalow The house filled the lot with hardly any space to landscape and I actually uploaded it in utter darkness, lol! With the newly renovated home I have increased the lot size and added a basement as well. I changed the grey decor that was popular at the time to more of a beige tone and added as many extras as I could, given the generoushighlighting The Sims 4 Birthday Items. I felt the Birthday event items were appropriate, given that we are celebrating 10 years of Build and Share's challenges.
CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM: Yes please budget. I chose to feature 10 highlights in my build that The Sims 4 has added to the game over the years. 1. Ponds 2. Terrain Elevation 3. ShowLiveEditObjects 4. Platforms 5. Curved Pools 6. Base game Nursery Items 7. Bunkbeds 8. Stairs with landings 9. Log In Rewards and 10. The Music Festival. I also featured 10 items in the kitchen !

ENTRY DETAILS: This is the reimagining of my very first Sims4 build, way back in 2014. A lot has changed in 10 years. I used 10 solar panels to represent the 10 years. Of course I included a pool, glass roof and platforms.
