It’s time for another Winter Designer Showdown!
Last winter, you turned Newcrest into a Winterfest Market. This year, it’s time to decorate Willow Creek for the holidays!
Pick any residential lot and decorate the inside and outside for any winter holiday. To make it fair, pre-existing lots must be bulldozed. You can build any type of home on the lots.

THE BRIEF

Build a house decorated for the holidays. Each house should have at least one bed and bath as well as a kitchen, living room and dining room. Build any additional rooms you want.
Remember to landscape.
As always, screenshots should be taken in summer so we can see the landscaping, but the majority should be taken in winter to show off your winter decorations. If you don’t have Seasons, don’t worry about this part - just pretend Willow Creek has no snow.

I was inspired by New Orleans (which may or may not be the inspiration for Willow Creek) and I set the house in January. This means Winterfest decorations are being stored in boxes, trees are being put down, but nights are still long, and hanging lights and illuminated trees are appreciated.
Abigail Bryant is a widow who converted her large Queen Anne home into three apartments. The first apartment is hers, with an antique and pristine decor. The second apartment is rented by the Baldwins, a single mom and her daughter. Their style is contemporary with neutral tones. The third apartment is rented by Anissa, a young adult with a secret cat. Her style is trendy and pastel, and she doesn't mind dirty walls.

I built a small 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath as a starter house for newlywed couple. It has a lovely office, living room, dining room and a chef’s kitchen. A nicely landscaped yard.

This is a new home designed for a wealthy family, who loves music, art and everything creative. The family consists of parents: mother and father and their three children: teenage twin boys and an infant daughter. The parents are successful in their careers: the father is a doctor and the mother is an artist. The father is also very creative: on his spare time he loves to do wood crafts and he also loves to use the fabricator, he designs and makes furniture and decorative items. The other one of the twins loves all sorts of sports, and the other one has a passion for music: he aspires to become a famous DJ in the future and he wants to produce his own music. The spacious home features: 4 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. In their new home, the family has all that they have wished for. The home is decorated for celebrating New Year.

I wanted to get away from Winterfest so chose to design and decorate a hosue with Kwanzaa in mind.
Kwanzaa is an annual holiday affirming African family and social values.
Each of the days of the celebration is dedicated to one of the seven principles of Kwanzaa: unity (umoja), self-determination (kujichagulia), collective responsibility (ujima), cooperative economics (ujamaa), purpose (nia), creativity (kuumba), and faith (imani). There also are seven symbols of the holiday: fruits, vegetables, and nuts; a straw mat; a candleholder; ears of corn (maize); gifts; a communal cup signifying unity; and seven candles in the African colours of red, green, and black, symbolizing the seven principles. On each day the family comes together to light one of the candles in the kinara, or candleholder, and to discuss the principle for the day. On December 31, families join in a community feast called the karamu. Some participants wear traditional African clothing during the celebration.

This old home is all dressed in its Sunday best waiting for ol' Saint Nick to shimmy down its chimney. Plenty of space for entertaining all those annoying relatives you put up with once a year. Plus more than enough room to seat everyone just don't place Uncle Charlie and cousin Mabel beside each other!

ENTRY DETAILS: For the Winter Designer Showdown I built on Cypress Terrace in Willow Creek. The winter holiday that I chose to celebrate is the Chinese New Year. This year is the year of the dragon, which represents power, nobility and success. The new year often begins with new resolutions for people. So, those two things led me to design a home for a successful self care specialist. The home has an Asian flair and there are many celebration items and decorations placed throughout the property; such as floating lanterns, red envelopes, plants with red envelopes attached, dragon posts, games, tea, a hot pot, and a board of wishes.

This old home is all dressed in its Sunday best waiting for ol' Saint Nick to shimmy down its chimney. Plenty of space for entertaining all those annoying relatives you put up with once a year. Plus more than enough room to seat everyone just don't place Uncle Charlie and cousin Mabel beside each other!

ENTRY DETAILS: For the Winter Designer Showdown I built on Cypress Terrace in Willow Creek. The winter holiday that I chose to celebrate is the Chinese New Year. This year is the year of the dragon, which represents power, nobility and success. The new year often begins with new resolutions for people. So, those two things led me to design a home for a successful self care specialist. The home has an Asian flair and there are many celebration items and decorations placed throughout the property; such as floating lanterns, red envelopes, plants with red envelopes attached, dragon posts, games, tea, a hot pot, and a board of wishes.
