@Redliner1960, there's also a fourth option, but it's trait-dependent. Childish sims can talk to stuffed animals.
As an added bonus, if it's Blarffy, he gives an Inspired moodlet. Carnegie got lots of use out of that with her writing and painting.
After completing the challenge, I decided to let her enjoy the freedom she's earned for a while. I moved her into a new house that came with a stuffed dinosaur. She's talked to it a few times, but did not get an Inspired moodlet. So, it looks like it might be only Blarffy that gives Inspired.
