Smarter Whims

-I get the marriage whim a lot, when my sims are already married! It's annoying.
-I get the "buy pool" whim far too often! It's frustrating when there is just no room for it in most lots.

I agree; I gave my sims the 1x1 pool they were all bugging me for, and made it into a tiny fountain. Now they all ask for pool lights "from owning a pool".

And I still get whims for buying the 1x1 pool occasionally, or maybe they want a second one, I don't know...
But it would be nice to see those wishes toned back a bit.

I'd also like to see things like pool wishes tied to sims with traits like Active, Loves Outdoors, and Goofy. And interactions like autonomous selfies tied to traits like Outgoing and Insider, and the new online career.

Basically to limit them and make them more meaningful and special, and less spammy.

Yes please, smarter whims all around. I think if they were more appropriate I would actually pay attention to the whims and incorporate them into my game play instead of just ignoring them because that don't make sense or repeat all the time.

Perhaps whims that are dismissed 3 times should not come up at all until the sim then does something related to prompt a return?

This is a great idea! (bringing this thread back, lol)

Instead of so many repetitive, and usually "buy stuff" related whims, how about finally adding an adopt a child whim? A "move out of the house" whim for aged up kids? A "move in with X" whims for close friends and girl/boyfriends? A "become best friends with X" whims for strong relationships? Maybe these exist and I just haven't seen them, but how about whims for divorcing or breaking up with people, or quitting their job? How about a whim to buy a retail store, or pet hospital, or restaurant (but y'know, only if it makes sense based on their traits/skills/and stuff)Yknow, things that are actually about a sims' life and relationships?

Also since cats and dogs came out, how about some training whims, like "train dog to sit," along with the petting and playing whims that come up over and over again? and my god, those "buy a pet bed" and "buy a pet bowl" ARE SO DAMN PERSISTENT. They keep happening, over and over, even after they've bought everything, and even after THEREIS NO LONGER A PET IN THE HOUSEHOLD. I let my sims kid get a dog, the grown up kid moved out with said dog, and now my sim is plagued by "buy a squeaky toy" and "walk a dog" whims FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIFE.

Whims to have a washer, dryer AND washtub when they already have something to wash clothes with are annoying. How about once a pet dies they stop having whims to walk the dog or buy squeaky toys and balls when they already have several? Or better yet, sims that don't even have pets should just not have pet-related whims.

No whims to have pools or hot tubs when there's not even any space to place them. Why are those and a dishwasher are always the first things sims want on moving into a new home?

Here's another one that needs to go away: "Get to know" a sim's parent/sibling/friend/partner even though they already know all that other sim's traits.
