SUGGESTION; Sims 4: Vacation Locations Expansion

When Granite Falls was released, I was excited. I loved sending my Sims on vacation in Sims 2 and I was looking forward to doing it again in Sims 4. But ... Granite Falls was it. I mean, we got the rain forest a few packs ago but that is it. So, I propose we have an expansion pack that is nothing but vacation locations!

THE LOCATIONS:

- An Asian themed location: visit beautiful gardens, ancient temples and majestic hot springs. Participate in and learn the beloved Tea Ceremony, shop at the local jewelry stores and maybe even learn how to make some of the local dishes. Don't forget to buy a lucky talisman before heading home; not only will it remind you of your visit but legends say it will help you learn skills much faster

- A French or Italian themed location: culture is a part of food and food is a part of culture! Dine a exquisite restaurants, dance until dawn at the local hot spots, learn new drink recipes at some of the most historical taverns in the world! And don't forget to visit the renown Landgrabe Nectaries, home to some of the best brewed nectars of the world. Their grapes are legendary AND PATENTED! But if you are quick enough, you might be able to pick some for yourself ... and if you know the right person, maybe even buy your own brewing station. Afterall, competition is necessary for a healthy market.

- An African themed location: go on a photo safari with friends or on your own, capturing the beauty of nature on film for everyone to see. This land is ancient and its people wise, so spend some time with the Village Elder to learn a few things like local legends or even some local dishes. And if you are respectful, maybe even a bit humble, the Elder might tell you of a mystical island where some truly amazing creatures live and how to get there.

- The Island of Soolantis: once believed to be nothing more than a myth or caustionary tale, Soolantis can be found and visited ONLY but those trusted friends of the Village Elders. Soolantis has advanced technology, great food and amazing new fashions for your Sims to discover, but the most wonderful thing about Soolantis is its people. They is just something ... wonderful about them. They are so charming, so friendly that Sims find it hard to leave the island. Obviously, this can't be a cover-up for something nefarious, right? Right?

NEW ITEMS

- tea ceremony table
- lucky talisman
- nectar making station
- 4 new types of grapes
- wide range of region based clothes and hair styles

NEW LOTS AND LOT TYPES

- Landgrabe Nectaries / Nectary (park community garden and part restaurant)
- Temple of Peace / Temple (a combination of a spell caster's lot and spa)

NEW PEOPLE / FAMILIES

- The Landgrabe Family: the TRUE Landgrabe clan, or so they claim. These snobby, well-to-do nectar makers are distant cousins to the Landgrabb / Landgraab family we know and ... tolerate. Their nectar is famous, divine and extremely profitable, but they want MORE! They want a rare nectar formula locked away in the Landgraab family vault. Will you help them get it or keep it for yourself?

- The Luc Family: The Luc family has been down on their luck ever since their son sold a family heirloom so he could buy a gaming computer. Now everything is going wrong and they need your help. Will you help break the curse through magic, by finding the Luc family heirloom or maybe just sit the Jinn cursing the family down for a nice cup of tea and a chat. He's not that bad a guy once you get to know him.

- The Journey Family: Elder Journey has a lot of great stories he wants to share with his grandchildren, but they don't want to hear any of them. The would much rather play games and listen to music. So, Elder Journey has a plan; he's going to become a world famous singer and tell the whole world his stories through song. Problem is ... he can't sing. Will you help Elder Journey out by being his voice or helping him find his?

SPECIAL NEW CREATURE

- Jinn: These tricky magic users are friendly, charming ... and BORED!!! Trapped on the island of Soolantis for generations, they have finally been able to get back into the real world and are itching to have some fun. They will trick you, curse you, turn you blue, turn you into a frog, or maybe even shower you with riches and good fortune. It all depends on how you treat them and what their mood is. A happy Jinn is more likely to bless you while an angry Jinn is more likely to curse you. Nothing personal, they're just bored.

I mean what I really want more than anything is an alpine ski chalet, but that just doesn't make sense in a world where Seasons exists--you'd need cold temperatures (and death by cold) and actual snow, and that's the whole draw of Seasons.
The rest of the year the world would look just like Granite Falls, too, so it's really quite pointless.

I've thought about this a lot. I think they could get away with there being a snowy-style terrain paint for the aesthetics and still have the skiing etc. Having Seasons would enhance the experience, definitely. But I don't think it's end up too controversial (although with this community, you never know) having a snow terrain paint to use, to make the world look snow-covered all the time. Then if you have Seasons installed, it could have permanently colder temperatures, more snow falling etc.

Why have snow all the time? On sunny days you could visit the chalet for lunch, fresh air, spa and massages, sun bathe, maybe collect some plants and insects along the way, take pictures of wildlife like bears, foxes, wolves, rabbits, eagles and nightowls. It doesn't have to be all about skiing and snow.

But then you're just playing in a forested lodge area.
    Which is Granite Falls.

I wouldn't mind if they expand Granite Falls to include skiing, especially in the area where the hermit lives. They could add severe climate, so you get snow good for skiing from late fall to late spring, maybe even beginning of summer, and summer would be more like late spring with small patches of snow here and there. I haven't heard of any skiing resorts that high up the mountain that you get year round snow. However, this is the sims and it doesn't really have to be thoroughly realistic.

    > If we ever get a vacation based pack with multiple worlds, I hope we get a tropical island. I know Sulani exists, but they sadly decided to not make it an option for vacations and I highly doubt they'd go back and alter it now. It's really not built for vacations anyway. So I'd like to see a different island world, perhaps a new one could be more focused on beach activities and normal family vacation gameplay and Sulani be the island for environmentalism and island spirits or whatever.

I agree, Sulani is like a vacation destination but I feel like we need a different island world where sims can stay in a resort, motel or at a backpackers (depending on budget). It would be cool if sims had a passport, which would also keep track of how many times a sim has travelled and when.
  • I like the idea of more holiday worlds, but if there were more than two in an expansion pack I would be worried about the content being spread too thin.
  • I don't know if this could be possible, but I really want hotels! They could be set up like apartments where you can only see your suite, but I think they are better/ more realistic than renting a house! It would be great if sims could "check in" or get room service. I think having a pool at the hotel, and maybe a buffet or restaurant would also be great. Having people "clean" the rooms while sims are away would be awesome too! This would probably be pretty complicated, and take a lot of coding, but it would be great!

But then we wouldn't be able to redecorate/build on the hotel lots right? Sort of like the university campus housing.

I mentioned the snow because I was responding to the ski chalet idea. Skiing would seem a bit odd if there wasn't any snow. And I can do (and indeed, do) all the other stuff in Granite Falls. The alpine ski chalet idea conjured up snow.
  • I loved vacations/travel in previous games. It was one of my favorite things to do with my sims. I just started playing Sims 4 and am frustrated because I feel like there are so many limits to the worlds. In TS1, I loved sending my sims to the lodge to snowboard and camp. I know they have the camping game pack, but I want a ski lodge with snowboarding again. I love TS2 travel more than TS3. I really wish they had spent more time on the vacation worlds in TS3 and had real restaurants. Paris was such a huge disappointment. Give me real restaurants, hotels, and other fun things t do! I'd love to have the "far east," Paris, and Egypt back but better. I love the idea of a Safari vacation, too. The worlds have to be fully fleshed out though. I don't even care if they give us a vacation expansion pack and then add a game pack to provide even more destinations later. My favorite expansion to play is Island Living, but I had to use Dine Out and Spa Day to add more depth to the world.

It bothers me how disconnected everything is in TS4. They've separated everything out into expansion packs, game packs, and stuff packs to make money, but it has made the game feel watered down. I was looking at my options and trying to decide what to purchase first. I noticed that the content we used to get in a single expansion pack is now dramatically thinned to make these other packs. Sorry for the rant. I'm just mad that I've been playing the sims for 20 years and feel like we have take one step forward and three steps back.
  • Honestly, I would just be happy with an Asian-inspired world and French/Italian world as an expansion pack. It seems like the Sims team would do a Swiss winter resort pack as a standalone expansion (if the previous survey is any indication), and I would also be concerned if they tried to fit too many destinations into one expansion, watering down the gameplay depth. I love the creativity in this thread though, and am glad there are others dying for more travel destinations. :) If I can't travel in real life right now - just let me do it in Sims! :D
