Surviving Simlish Challenge, by Something Simlish

Hi Everyone!
We at Something Simlish created a type of Legacy Challenge for you all. You will see influence from a lot of different challenges, but with some twists.
https://somethingsimlish.files.wordpress.com/2021/06/challenge-img-forum-1.png

The ‘Surviving Simlish’ Challenge is not a regular legacy challenge! Starting out, you will need to plan carefully how you’ll complete tasks and scenarios that will make you change the way you play. As you progress through the challenge, each generation will be affected by the ones before, meaning you’ll never know where the story may lead.
From rebellious teens to mansion barons and world travelling free spirits, our challenge has endless possibilities!

Here is the explanation for each generation, so you have an idea of what the challenge is.
Hope you enjoy it!

GEN 1: “IF I DIDN’T MAKE IT, I WON’T EAT IT”
This Generation is all about doing it yourself. You were given up for adoption and grew up in an orphanage. It was pretty impossible to own stuff there, so you don’t know what it feels like to have possessions. What you do have are the clothes on your body and a blob of clay in your inventory. You left the orphanage and set off on a journey of self-exploration. Although life is unpredictable, one thing is certain – you will never have kids of your own because there are too many Sim children waiting for a new home.

GEN 2: “WHAT YOU REAP IS WHAT YOU SOW”
Your parents have instilled in you the importance of a healthy lifestyle, cooking your own food and making it the best way possible. It’s all about the highest quality! You’re a total foodie which fuels your dream to own at least 2 restaurants with a minimum of 4 stars, no matter the amount of hard work and perseverance required. Growing up, your parents were hardworking individuals who taught you nothing comes on a silver platter, you must work, work, work!

GEN 2.1: “I DID THAT WITH MY OWN HANDS!”
This is only for those, who don’t own Dine Out
An example was set for you by diligent and ambitious parents: completing goals without help is the best thing you can do for yourself! Naturally, you feel the need to craft all your own possessions, and live a natural life as possible – this includes recycling, repurposing and maybe a bit of dumpster diving too! Life may be challenging, but you’re good at problem-solving and who cares if that grilled cheese has a couple of flies hanging around it?

GEN 3: “THE APPLE DOESN’T FALL FAR FROM THE TREE”
Growing up, you definitely missed out on quality time with your parents, but you adored them nonetheless. You’d spend hours listening to their stories about travelling and that time dad fought off the hungry cowplant. As an only child, you inherited all of your parent’s wealth but living in the same old town just doesn’t do it for you. One day you pack your bags and head off in the direction for destinations unknown, looking for a new place to call home.

GEN 3.1: “THIS IS BORING… YOU ARE BORING”
only if you have played Gen 2.1.
They say that nature is the best cure for all ailments but goodness, you are so bored. You dream of wild adventures in distant lands, new experiences and maybe a holiday romance, or four. The thought of being tied down to the old proverbial ‘ball and chain’ frightens you to no end, it’s time to go! New people, new food, new sights! You never want to grow old.

GEN 4: “A PLACE CALLED HOME”
The constant travelling not only ruined your social life but also your fiery spirit. All you feel now is anxiety and paranoia in social situations and yearn to be on your own. ”Go and play outside” would strike fear in your heart as a child. Although the thought of travel terrified you, you always preferred to be at home, glued to the TV when the Worldwide Culture Network channel was on. Whilst you try to control every little thing in your home, there are some you can’t control.

GEN 5: “BLOOD IS THICKER THAN WATER”
As a child, you realised you were nothing like your parents. Always staying in the same place, never travelling, being too scared to look outside your front door… As soon as you’re old enough to score a part-time job, you move out of the family home and into shared accommodation (the roommate service if you have Discover University, or if not at least 4 other random Sims but you cannot control them, unless you become engaged to one of them). As you get older, you appreciate the importance of family and wish to spend as much time with your loved ones as possible, you dream of the perfect 2.5 dynamic family life with the white picket fence.

GEN 6: “I AM A FREE SPIRIT”
Inspiration comes in many different forms, for you, it was watching your parents create the perfect environment filled with love, care and a passion for hobbies. The family home was always so peaceful and filled with amazing creations, this shaped your desire to turn your parent’s hobby into a life-long ambition! Unfortunately, when it came time to start settling down, starting your own family became complicated for your partner and you.

GEN 7: “I AM SICK OF NOT HAVING EVERYTHING FOR MYSELF!”
All your life, you’ve had to share the spotlight. Siblings, pets, that conch shell from Sulani… You always wished you were born an only child – or, at least have parents who were a little more hands-on and less “it’s cool, dude” about everything. How can you relax when you’re living from paycheque to paycheque?! You have decided that life is what you make it. Yes, families are nice, but now it’s time to focus on yourself and your needs.

GEN 8: “I WANT TO GIVE SOMETHING BACK”
You feel a shadow hanging over your every move. It may not be literal, but it’s definitely there. This shadow is the result of a dark family secret, one which will die with you. Considering the shame, you always go that one mile more to please and help your community but as you try to “do your bit”, you can’t help but feel it’s never really enough. As a result, you try to fill the emptiness with as many friends as possible.

GEN 9: “MONEY DOESN’T GROW ON TREES”
You wake up one morning and it hits you like a tonne of bricks. You’re poor! Rotten, stinking, dirt poor. How did this happen?! Why did it happen?! How are you supposed to live the high life you so desperately deserve?! How will you manage to finish your MySims trophy collection?! This is so unfair, but you have to do something about it. Hard work was never your ‘thing’, you’re more interested in ‘get rich quick’ schemes, but these usually end in a one-way ticket to jail. How will you find the cash?!

GEN 10: “…PLEASE SAY I AM ADOPTED…”
They’re all crazy; your parents, your aunts and uncles, even Grampa Bob and Grammy Betty were mad! There were always show-downs at reunions and family gatherings. One Winterfest, the tofurkey ended up stuck in the chimney while the festive tree went up in flames! Everyone was always fighting, it could be over money, bills, even which sink you washed the dishes in… You have decided, enough is enough! Things will be different for you – a nice, peaceful life.

This is such an amazing, well-thought out challenge. The amount of work you've put into the details is mind-blowing. I can't wait to get started!
