The Kaufmann Family (Legacy-Update 17th July 2024)

2064 - 2065

The little ones were growing so fast. Anja plays with her brother now. She has learned a lot from him.

Anja has a little birthday party with the whole family. The grandparents (parents of Sara in the first picture) were very proud of their youngest granddaughter and have adored her.

Since it was also Christmas Eve the children were sent to bed for a short nap before opening the gifts.

Unfortunately later during the night sara received a phonecall, her parents didn't arrived at home.
During her mourning she discovered that she is pregnant again.

The house was too small for 3 children, but Tobias has reached the top of his career as mechanic and later he has received an opportunity for a higher paid position. But the family has to move to the United States of America for that job. They found a house for around 50.000 Simoleon, it was in their price range, because it was a monstrosity, ugly house, built during the civil uprising during the 2050 in a desert town surrounded by a wasteland. The climate change hits the country hard and so plants can't surive on the surface, they would be burnt under the strong sun.

Sara got also a position in the town to make it habitable again.

Suprised by the high living costs Tobias struggle to renovate his house. He found himself in a shady side hustle to make some money to pay the horrendous bill.

As part of his new job he should also teach new students in mechanic at the University.

Selma was born in 2065.

Since the Selma needs the most attention from Sara, she denys to be breastfead and is always hungry, Tobias mainly take care of Benjamin and Anja.

I didn't had much time to play in the last few weeks. However during the last weeks I have changed the house to a more eco-friendly design. I've tried to rebuild the acient oriental cooling system, which people had build in the desert before the invention of the air conditioning.

I have also change the playground in park a little bit.

2066 - 2067

Benjamin and Anja just chatting on the couch, before Benjamin has celebrated his birthday with a Chocolate cake.

Meanwhile Selma has made a huge progress and stands already.

But not always she was a happy little sunshine.

She grew so fast and I fell in love immediately when I saw her. I don't know why, but her first appearance was the little toddler cc-Dirndl, she was looking so cute.

And she is a little escapee ...

But she had returned seconds later.

Someone is seeking for trouble...

Since living in the USA is still kind of dangerous in the future, Tobias and Sara have a strict parenting style to keep their children safe. They have high expectations in Benjamin, who suffers under these strict houshold rules and expectations.

He would rather play with the other children than study.

He often arrived at home too late after the 7 pm curfew, when it was already dark outside, so he got scolded ...

... until he got a punishment, it was a light one but he felt threatened unfair.

As you can see Sara is pregnant again. The Doctor told them it will be twins, which was a shock for them, since they couldn't afford a bigger house and the budget is still tight. But she had to keep the unborn babies and there were no financial support from the government, which they were used to when they had lived in Germany.

Tobias and Sara are worried about the behaviour of Benjamin, they both work very hard and late, and they have no money for a babysitter, which is a dire situation, because they had to leave him unsupervised.

They try to adapted the US-American Thanksgiving in there Life, playing a happy family.

Benjamin starts to complaining about his life.

Slowly he understood that saying sorry and helping with the chores prevents a punishment.

Selma adores him anyway.

To keep him at home at time, they allowed him to have sleepover party, which was a huge success.

Then Christmas came and the family followed the revival of an old us-american tradition of wearing family onesies at christmas, but they still opening the gifts on christmas eve as part of their german heritage, no german child would ever change that. Sorry ;).

Edit: I forgot almost the most important news. I have restored the family tree, at least for the heirs. Since I made a reset, released almost all ghosts and cleared all relationships at the end of challenge, the tree was total broken, so I went to older saves files, saved the older generation heirs and included them again. Then I changed the relationship before let them die again. Surprisingly I didn't need to changed the relationship of Wilhelm and his son Hans, he has remembered him as his son, even the friendship bar was the same. I had tears in my eyes, when I saw this.

so after a long break with different sims I have returned back to my main family. It was overwhelming to be honest and  today I have ask myself several time why am I doing this. 

2068

It was a normal evening in the Kaufmann family, but something was different.

Sara was done with this house, she was tired to stuck all day in this dark house, she missed the sunlight, but it was to dangerous to go outside even with a high sun proctection. Her pregnancy takes toll on her and she is expecting twins this time. She begged Tobias to get her and the family away from this village. The house was to small for a family of 7 soon anyway.

As a good husband Tobias had searched and found a abbandon ranch for sale for an affordable price, not cheap or perfect, but it needs little maintenance.

They packed their stuff and moved on Friday night to Chestnut Ridge.

"You are kidding me, right? Are you serious? That's a joke, it must be a joke!"

Well this ranch wasn't just abbandoned, it was a junkyard. To say it needs just a little maintenance is a clearly understatement.

Tobias checked the land to see what must be done. It was a mess.

Meanwhile Sara went through the house, more and more desperate.

She has decided to clean the kitchen first, she was hungry and sent Benjamin upstairs to look for a room where they can sleep tonight. He found a room, which would be easy to tidy up.

Tobias and Benjamin clean the room as good as possible and placed the beds.

Benjamin found this place exciting, it was an Adventure play area, his mother even forget to set a curfew, he enjoy his new freedom stay out as long as he wish.

For Sara it was too much, she went in labor early and had to stay in the hospital for surveillance.

Tobias stayed home with the kids and finished the first room where all the children could sleep in a more healthy condition. The walls were cleaned and painted, the floor was renewed.

Sara came back with two healthy twins Heiko and Harry Kaufmann. With the help of the community they where able to free the house from the trash in a short time.

At last, Anja celebrated her birthday and it's now a child.

Hello to the new forum,

Why must things get so much complicated? Everything was easier to use in the past times. That's the questions which just I don't ask myself, my sims are struggling too. The farm gameplay gave me so much trouble and I had even not started the crops and animals yet. But farm gameplay and raising children and both parents have career were too much for me, the lot was too big for me. Uploading pictures on imgur went complicated too. However I von found out, that I can now use the Direct link for uploading. Since my struggles with surviving the sims I haven't made much for story stelling anyways.

2069 - 2070

Tobias was busy to repair and cleaning the farm area. He produced a gardening bot for help, but that thing decided to nurture the weed and poisoning plants.

Benjamin and Anja have learned how to drive a bicycle, but it took a while.

Over the time the farm got free from the trash, so Benjamin and Anja, have more fun to play outside.

However these two years too tribute:

At the end of the 2070: The twins are now toddlers and need a lot more attention in the live training. Anja and Selma have developed a complicated relationship.

Sara was just overwelmed, so they decided to grab just the necessarries and move back to Germany. The new house was from the 1970s and needed some work too, but it wasn't worst as the farmland. Tobias lost his job but he got very fast an opportunity to work as a project manager for a tech company. So far all their money went into the house and left them with 500 simoleons.

Of corse the neighbors were curious and have welcomed them.

Hello Simmers,

Since this forum technology isn't very Simmer-friendly in my eyes, I'm in the process of transfering the Kaufman Legacy to my first own blog. But it will take some time to reach the current ingame year. The reason is that imgur doesn't allow me to set a link to my pictures in the blog, so I have to search for the right pictures in my screenshot folder and upload them again, and there a thousand of pictures as you might imagine. I'm also updating all the pictures in the first thread of this family, since the challenge itself is finished, it will also take so time, since I have to deal with timeouts and not allow to posts, because of reaching the post limits and so on.  I'm tired of this.

When I'm up to date with the blog I will post the link here.
