@MyInnerSim - Just for fun I had another sim I made start up a bakery, and oh my gosh! Talk about fun and games. First, I forgot to set the door to the kitchen as locked to everyone but employees, so in they come and stand around in the kitchen. I'm like....out...come on....let's go out....so 2 are in there, and then 2 more come in and now there's 4 of them in the kitchen. I finally did get them out using the chat here, but oh my gosh, that was a hoot. I also had too big a restroom, I guess, as well, because we had the chat in the loo going on. Then I placed some marshmallow squares down for a second....yep, a second....before I got to price it, and someone takes one of the squares and sits down nicely and starts eating it. I guess they thought they were samples. And I know why you put that little fence and gate up because that was the next thing that happened, these sims went behind the counter and were just standing there yakking. I was laughing so hard with all the comings and goings. It was so hilarious.
The good news was that you can also "cook" baked goods, because there is a hamburger cake that costs $25 to make, so under "cook" there are some baked goods, too. So, just as a test, I had 5 baked items for sale (only 1 dessert counter because you can place 2 plates vertically, if you know what I mean, one in front and one in back, and 3 "other" items on a shelf (blue plate, the desert tray, and the little gold coffee pot), and made sure I was only open 9 hours, and I made a profit of $236 simoleons -- on the 2nd day. I was so excited!
So, yes, put some other items out that are from buy mode.
Also, my sim was putting things in the fridge when they were done, so that is good idea, too, for days that you get busy and have some simoleons, that you can make extra batches and keep them in the fridge until they are ready to sell.
I am not doing a story on this, I was more of less testing it out only because I was curious. And, the lots traits of homey and chef's kitchen are great because every time he goes in the kitchen he gets inspired. The kitchen is boring, no decorations, nothing with el cheapo fixtures, but I do have the cupcake machine in there.
Do you know that there are no baking skill books to skill at the library? Just basic cooking.
Can't wait to read more adventures of your bakery!
