Ultimate Decades Challenge - Day 32 - Year 1307 - Updated Nov. 17
Hello! Follow along with me as I play Morbid's Ultimate Decades Challenge! The challenge begins in the year 1300 and goes all the way through history to the present day.
We will follow Thomas Farvale, 16, living with his parents, Caitlin and Edward Farvale. He has two older sisters. Anna (20) and Elizabeth (18) who are both married.

Thomas lives here with his parents on their small family farm.

I have updated Henford-on-Bagley to look medieval, as well as a few other worlds. I used a combination of some builds from DivanTheSimmer's Medieval Save and SnarkyWitch's Medieval Henford-on-Bagley. I also am using quite a few mods, but that's totally not necessary in order to do this challenge. :)
This was how it looked before I decided to add Thomas's parents. I have added a bedroom for them as well as a bathroom. Thomas still sleeps in the kitchen/living area. Don't ask me where his sisters slept when they lived here. Probably in the barn. Wait...they don't have a barn. They are too poor for that. https://i.ibb.co/HzKRt89/10-11-23-8-10-30-PM.png https://i.ibb.co/7jnQnvx/10-11-23-8-11-53-PM.png https://i.ibb.co/3hj1ct4/10-11-23-8-12-02-PM.png
Anna and her husband, Richard Sherwood, live here in Windenburg. Richard is a knight. https://i.ibb.co/4VMyjHy/10-15-23-7-27-38-PM.png
As one of my side households, they get 10 attempts at having children, so we didn't waste any time with the first try, though with a 25% chance, who knows what will happen. https://i.ibb.co/tCJhWQT/10-15-23-7-46-53-PM.png https://i.ibb.co/dLDKxKF/Screenshot-279.png
Elizabeth and her husband, John Harper, live in Cordelia's Secret Cottage in Henford-on-Bagley. John is a bard. https://i.ibb.co/hWrz7r7/10-15-23-7-49-48-PM.png
They also didn't waste any time trying for a baby. https://i.ibb.co/rk51dnS/10-15-23-7-50-09-PM.png https://i.ibb.co/ChQcfsr/10-15-23-7-50-30-PM.png
Here are Thomas's parents, Caitlin and Edward. https://i.ibb.co/P4dRMKv/10-15-23-7-56-09-PM.png https://i.ibb.co/LzyXWM9/10-15-23-7-56-55-PM.png
Day 1:
They started off with only 3 simoleons, which is what was left after furnishing the cottage. There wasn't any food in the house, so Edward set off to do some fishing. https://i.ibb.co/XJYFfMW/10-16-23-9-43-50-PM.png
However, the fish in this pond were a little too crafty for Edward, who wasn't a very skilled fisherman, and so he went off to do some hunting and foraging instead. Caitlin waited patiently. https://i.ibb.co/Nn67FX8/10-15-23-9-53-30-PM.png https://i.ibb.co/R0P8r8b/10-16-23-9-48-01-PM.png
Thomas went to town to check out the market, even though he wasn't able to buy anything. https://i.ibb.co/qW2X6Hm/10-16-23-1-42-33-PM.png https://i.ibb.co/nDdV1J8/10-16-23-1-44-08-PM.png
He did meet some neighbors though. Benjamin, a blacksmith, and his daughter (whos name escapes me at the moment). https://i.ibb.co/tCfhb90/10-16-23-1-41-44-PM.png
Thomas did have a few giant crop seeds and so he planted those. https://i.ibb.co/0FX9cSd/10-16-23-9-35-59-PM.png
His father returned with some hare that he caught and Caitlin cut and stored the meat. https://i.ibb.co/zncqPHP/Screenshot-280.png
Unfortunately, all they had to eat was gruel, which Caitlin prepared for them. https://i.ibb.co/2knQBX3/10-16-23-9-57-54-PM.png
It must not have been that bad though, because while Thomas was tending the garden, Elizabeth showed up to have some gruel as well! https://i.ibb.co/ky1qm6c/10-16-23-9-58-27-PM.png https://i.ibb.co/MZF6qLz/10-16-23-9-59-17-PM.png
They ate together and talked and Elizabeth told them a bit about how married life was going. They also had a small farm, but they had yet to buy some chickens. https://i.ibb.co/9YLfqS9/10-16-23-9-59-40-PM.png https://i.ibb.co/F5pqNrx/10-16-23-10-01-48-PM.png
After dinner, Caitlin cleared the dishes and Thomas and Elizabeth chatted until it was late. https://i.ibb.co/7bHCn8q/10-16-23-10-00-42-PM.png https://i.ibb.co/QX4BqMP/10-16-23-10-03-24-PM.png
And so, a pretty good first day. Hopefully Thomas will meet someone soon that he will want to marry.
With the Olde Cookbook mod, and the Royalty mod, Edward was able to hunt and forage. He found some things to plant in the garden as well. I couldn't figure out how to cook the meat yet, so they just had gruel.
Here's the credit for the cottage and some sims I used. https://i.ibb.co/4ppMpfs/Screenshot-281.png https://i.ibb.co/Nm5zHyy/Screenshot-282.png https://i.ibb.co/zFZptCr/Screenshot-283.png
This one appears to be stolen, according to the comments. Oops. :s https://i.ibb.co/0c2J1C1/Screenshot-284.png
Richard Sherwood is from the gallery as well, but I forgot to save him and when I tried to find him again, I couldn't...
@SoulGal7 @flauschtrud Here it is! Not much of a story for now, but I'll to to come up with something better for day 2 :) I'm just happy to have finally gotten started. :D
Love the fact that they don't all have bedrooms...and where did his sisters sleep? I find that the brothers and sisters drop by quite a lot, at least in my game. Gruel...oh yummy gruel. lol I know that is from the Ye Olde Cookbook, so that is cool. With the simple living lot trait and off the grid, all they were making was cheese. Love the farm and love Thomas and his family. Great start! :)
Thank you! Yes, gruel was all they were able to make. This will be quite challenging with those two lot challenges. I still have to figure out the Ye Olde Cookbook mod. I think I need salt to cook the meat. I imagine that Thomas probably slept on the floor and his two sisters probably (somehow) shared that bed. Or maybe one shared with the parents. I think that probably wasn't uncommon in poor families that couldn't afford another bed or bedroom. Hopefully I'll be able to make some money to add another room before Thomas gets married.
