Ability to custom purchase all craftable items

My biggest wish for the Sims 4 is to have an added game mechanic that allows Sims to purchase any craftable items from packs. We have the ability to make jewelry, clothes, candles, potions, art, etc. And while I enjoy the randomness of Plopsy, it would make so much more sense to have the ability to custom "order" any craftable item. You shouldn't have to master the gemology skill to buy an engagement ring or master nectar-making for a case of wine. And grabbing it off of the gallery just isn't as fun. Sims also make money so quickly, and this would be a great way to add another option to spend it while utilizing existing pack features. There could be a shipping upcharge, delayed delivery, and other familiar features of ordering online, all tied into the shopping app on the phone. It seems like a missed opportunity for the amount of craftable items that exist in the game now.

The inverse is that there should be a universal freelance career that allows Sims to take custom orders for craftable things and deliver them (ship them), similar to the mechanic for Plopsy, but mixed with odd jobs or the notification for video requests. It would be a small addition but could increase gameplay for SO many packs that produce items.

  • @DJoyVee if you have Get to Work, the way I do it is to craft everything and sell all of the items in my retail lots. My Jeweller, Florists, Nectar Makers, Artists, Sculptors, etc all have stores selling what they've made.

It's particularly useful for the jewellery. If I'm creating a new Sim I'll have my Jeweller Sim create a whole range for them and on their first day in the world they head to the store and buy it to wear.

Since it's not possible to buy them to order as you've suggested, it's a workaround. If you have Lovestruck there are some items you can buy at the little shop, like Nectar and bouquets. Sims can order things from the phone too depending on what packs you have like with the Plopsy app but for custom items this is how I do it.

@simsplayer818I've used many of those workarounds, but it doesn't make sense that we have to use workarounds or other packs to enjoy items that come in a different pack without downloading from the gallery or becoming a master crafter. And I like the small shops and Plopsy, like I mentioned, but again, those require DLC and what I'm suggesting is a base game function that allows all players to enjoy all of the craftable items in the game, regardless of the packs they've purchased and regardless of the skill levels of their Sims. It is fun to run stores and place them to buy items, but it would be GREAT not to have to do that when that isn't the focus of the gameplay.
