Ads in game

I am being the nicest I can about this. So whoever reads this, I’m trying not to get banned. But this is a serious issue that no one wants.

The new issue at hand is that the development team has decided that making in game ads is a good thing apparently… However, according to a lot of players and Sim’s groups I’m in, everyone is saying the same thing. We want uninterrupted game play. We do not want gameplay interrupted every 30 seconds for us to be forced to watch 10 minutes of ads with no way to skip them. We don’t even want them at all. Seriously, who in the world is on this development team? I’d like to have a word with them because the fans have spent way too much money investing in this company and game. We are all tired of the development team not listening to the players.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding what is happening. But I seriously think they need to scrap that idea all together. They are losing players to Paralives for several issues but now this in game ad situation has pushed people over the edge. And personally I don’t like Paralives and I won’t ever play it. But if this ad thing does happen, I’m gonna be really upset that I wasted hundreds of dollars on this game and thousands of hours. 

The developers need to listen to the players and stop making decisions players don’t want. Otherwise they’re gonna end up losing everything in the end. Because the players do not want this in the game at all. 

Please for the sake of the whole Sims Community, please start listening to the players. We feel abandoned by the development team and EA. Especially after all the money they’ve made off of content creators helping get the game out into the world and bring more players to the game. I mean I seriously just got my best friend interested in this game and she is having fun. But I know she’s like me and she will not want to deal with in game ads either and will not move past the base game and buy more packs nor put anymore hours into the game.

PS. If I am wrong, can someone please explain what is happening? I read the article but I still could have misunderstood. 

I think particularly for the Sims, the advertising is like the free Coach bloatware. The game has done brand collaborations since the Sims 2 era.

So long as they keep it to billboards like the sims freeplay 😖

I'm not seeing any ads in my game, where are they?

Bluebellflora, the brand collaborations content in-game are basically ads. Personally, I do not want anything in-game that isn't just in Similsh. Unfortunately we have English printed on many CAS items and the Coach bags in-game as well.

I really do hope that is the case. Like I said I probably just didn’t understand what they meant so thank you for explaining further for me. I really do hope that it isn’t going to do what free games do and make us stop and watch ads every 30 seconds. They need to clear up what they mean because in my multiple sims groups everyone is thinking the same way I am about the situation and a lot of them were upset too. They are saying they will quit sims and move to Paralives. I love Sims and I don’t want to abandon the game I’ve played since I was 13 years old. I personally won’t switch to Paralives because I just don’t like the graphics of it. But I know a lot of people do and I’m happy for them. Just not my thing. Hopefully they do come out and clear up the misunderstanding for everyone. Again thanks for the reply! I appreciate it! ☺️

If it's in the form of a collaboration that gives us new items or optional gameplay I don't mind. In game pop up ads would make me quit playing. Not to keen on in game billboards either, those would definitely ruin immersion and mess up screenshots.

I think the other really important thing is to just take all the gossip and clickbait with a pinch of salt. Until something is officially announced it’s just speculation and unfortunately in online communities this snowballs into ridiculous levels of hysteria. There are also people online who like to twist official statements to suit the narrative they want to spread, often in a negative way. It’s so exhausting and can often be damaging to the everyday player who worries over something that hasn’t happened or even ever will.

I had a technical issue posting the full link here but that's the important bit I think. I know that some unofficial fan sites have posted their interpretation but I always look for EA's own words to be absolutely sure especially with so much misinformation out there!
