Animal Care Autonomy

I wanted to share my experience with animals and pets in the Sims 4 and see if anyone can relate or have had the same experience.

I like to have animals in my Household, but I don't enjoy having to force my sims to take care of them. I want my sims to actually care for the pets I give them. Sims are able to take a shower and prepare their own meals when they are hungry. So they should do the same for their pets without needing me to tell them.

I had a cow and some chickens, but my sims would not take care of them. The pet shelter and coop was always dirty, and the animals were always starving unless I intervened and directed a sim to feed them.

I even made Dynasty and set "Nature Loving" as one of the ideals, but my sims still completely neglected the cow and chickens.

So I sold the farm animals and tried giving them a pet dog. Same problem. So I took away the dog, too, and they now have a horse. So far they seem to be taking care of it a little better.

Will they address some of these problems in any of the autonomy updates? I really wish they would.

  • I couldn’t say it better myself. Yes, we need pet autonomy in the game. As soon as anything is implemented in the game it should be autonomous. I would like a game where I could sit and watch and only interfere when I want to and of course take over fully when I want to, but even if I take a break and leave the computer, the game should go on autonomously without me too. If dialog boxes come up, such as an incoming phone call or whatever that I don’t act on as a player, the sim should make his/her own decision on what to do. The game should just flow.
