Annoying popups for the new kits

What platform are you playing on? through EA app, origin or what?

I ask because I've yet to run into these and I'd like it to stay that way :sweat_smile:

also wondering if there is some settings you could adjust to not have these
since it seems some of us don't get them and some do and its kind of strange

I put the EA app in Offline Mode before I play. This results in no pop-ups at all. I only play while online if I need to patch the game or if I'm looking for something in the Gallery.

This also happens to me, using Origin. I’m almost certain that these pop-ups used to go away after you cleared them once, but now it seems like they keep popping up for days after a release. It’s super annoying. I agree with the advice above to start the game up while offline. I’ll probably do that from now on, actually. I only felt the need to be online while playing back when the gallery newsfeed was working. Now it doesn’t even matter.

@simmingal I'm on PC and EA app and I remember having seen a similar thread regarding packs that were on sale a while ago. Some users got popups and others didn't, it is probably related to the frequency EA app usuage. I mostly play offline and the only EA app games I play at all are Sims 2, 3, 4 and Titan Quest, so I may have gotten slotted into the "casual gamer" category.

@Caerfinon and @PandoraTO That's my experience, too. When I start the game in offline mode, no popup occurs. I needed a few builds and franchise sims from the gallery lately, so I started the game online this week. Lesson learned, only do that again when absolutely neccessary.

Sorry for the rant thread, I was so annoyaed and had to get it out of my system.

I am also getting a lot of pop ups for goth galore. But if EA think I am willing to pay 5€ to get rid of this add they are wrong. This happened for the last few packs as well but usually stops after some time. The goth kit is OK but not my style. I don't think I will get enough use out of it.

Maybe its categorized as online notifications or something like that? or in game surveys?

Looks like the goth galore pop up is replaced by a new one. Instead of paying 5€ for a kit, the game wants to convince me to get for rent at a 5€ discount (so still 35€). I am not going to risk my saves until that EP is fixed.

I have online notifications off so that's not it. Maybe it is based on my buying behaviour. EA sees I bought some packs within a week after release (growing together, castle kit, home chef hustle) , so they think they can convince me to do this for everything.

hmm strange maybe screenshot it next time you are attacked by pop up? could it possibly be ea app itself not the game? maybe theres setting in ea app settings to disable it?

They need to seriously stop advertising the For Rent pack until it's fixed, never mind discounting it to get more people to buy! That's some pretty gross and shameless company behavior.

More and more people are turning away from the game because of this and I'm seeing YouTube videos and Twitter comments all over the place about the game being so broken that nobody even wants any more content until it's fixed. And honestly, after spending $1000+ on Sims 4, people have every right to be furious.

EA needs to do something fast to set their company priorities straight and regain the trust of their players or they're going to lose their billion dollar franchise. They have a lot of competition on the horizon picking up steam.

Online notifications are off. Surveys not because I want to take those rare opportunities where EA actually asks feedback through a survery.
