Any News about Townie Refreshes?

So, during a livestream, I think when Cottage Living came out, Maxis team (or EA) promised to refresh townies and households in the game. And so far, only two households were given an overhaul: the Goths, and the Calientes. These are recurring characters in the franchise, too. I was anticipating maybe the Landgraabs will get the next refresh/overhaul. But it's been a couple/few years, and no news about this project regarding a follow-up, or maybe even an announcement that they can't follow through their promise.

I honestly wish they would still do this, or at least let us know about... anything at all regarding this. Perhaps the Pancakes or the BFFs, as those two households are one of the most common to be revamped or be given makeovers, at least in base game. And I don't want to have to download from the Gallery - even though there are many really good creations out there - because I want the makeover or overhaul to be consistent. One of the few who appreciates Maxis' style and design on this one.

  • While the process is respectable- they actually go through full design processes for these refreshes including making concept art- it's just way too much time spent on something that's kinda not that big of a process.

I've been personally working on a save file that aims to commemorate The Sims series legacy...and have personally modified over 100 Sims so far for it. I've made over the BFFs. I've made over a few EA Promotional Sims. I've made over a few premade families. I've recreated many Sims 1, 2, and 3 characters. Since I'm not beholden to "the process" I can whip up 4-8 "refreshes" in an afternoon if I want to. And there's hundreds of options on the gallery for those unwilling to do that work (and there's save files like mine if you want them in there "from the start").

BUT- Since the goal is maxis-matchiness, and respect for the series, I think I'm doing a very good job of making believably "maxis" renditions. Here's my BFFs- Travis is wearing a MySims Party promotional render outfit, Liberty Lee is based on how she, uh, actually looks, and Summer is wearing her iconic cheer outfit. They all have new outfits across each category and a full set of skills, careers, clubs, lifestyles, preferences, etc that are canon-friendly. Travis even has a custom "retired" job description from registering as self-employed stating he's a former tech CEO. I'm doin' the work lol.

It's just not worth worrying about maxis getting around to it, they are sort of taking each reset a little too seriously IMO. The goths came out very iffy and the calientes came out WONDERFUL but the process just takes them way, way too long, and they are also outdated the second new packs come out (they don't have likes/dislikes/turn ons/turn offs/woohoo preferences).

But creators who care about "getting it right" are definitely out there 😉

Apologies for the week-delayed reply. I like your attempt on refreshing the BFFs, although Travis Scott's eyes look a bit too big, or maybe it's just in that shot. I am trying to make a community edition save template myself, implementing Maxis uploaded sims, households, lots, and so on. But I also want to update them all, including their likes, dislikes, turn-ons, turn-offs, preferences in general, etc. Though I was hoping Maxis would meet us in the middle in this and continue the townies overhaul and maybe more of the lot overhauls like they did with the ones occupied by premade households in both Willow Creek and Oasis Springs.
