Awareness Post – "A Lifelong Simmer’s Concern
I’ve been playing The Sims since day one — back in 2000 with the original game. I’ve bought and enjoyed nearly every expansion across Sims 1, 2, 3, and 4. I don’t say that to brag — I say that because I love this series.
But I made the difficult decision not to buy For Rent — not because I don’t like the idea of multi-family gameplay (I do), but because the bugs are game-breaking, and EA hasn’t fully addressed them even months after launch.
Players are reporting corrupted saves, deleted Sims, disappearing households, and full save loss — without mods, in completely vanilla games. That’s devastating. When you’ve built stories, families, generations… and they’re just gone? That’s more than a bug. That’s personal.
I’m posting this not just for me, but for:
- New players who don’t know to back up saves.
- Console players who can’t install mods or patches on their own.
- Longtime fans who’ve already paid for the pack and feel abandoned.
EA/Maxis — please fix For Rent.
A save-corrupting bug should be a top priority. Many of us are waiting and watching, and we’re willing to come back — but only if the game respects the time and love we put into it.
Until then, I’ll keep enjoying the packs that work. (Seasons, Eco Lifestyle, Growing Together — you’ve done great work there.) But I’m holding off on For Rent and love struck until they’re stable and safe.
💚 From a simmer since The Sims 1
