Baking Expansion/Lactose or Vegan Enterprise
So long as this game has been around, the dietary food options have remained fairly limited, especially after adding traits like Lactose Intolerant and Vegan.
The traits themselves are a great addition—they add personality and realism—but they still feel incomplete because there aren't enough recipes to support them.
The biggest example is birthday cakes. A lactose-intolerant Sim can celebrate their birthday, but there are almost no proper birthday cake options without using workarounds like the lactose-free cheesecake. Families in real life would simply bake a cake using lactose-free or plant-based ingredients, so it feels strange that Sims can't.
I'd love to see a Dietary Baking & Cooking Kit or a free gameplay update that expands these options.
Suggested additions
Lactose-Free Baking
- Lactose-Free Chocolate Cake
- Lactose-Free White Cake
- Strawberry Oat Milk Cake
- Lactose-Free Coconut Cream Cake
- Dairy-Free Cupcakes
- More lactose-free desserts in general
Vegan Baking & Cooking
- Vegan Birthday Cake
- Vegan Chocolate Cake
- Vegan Cookies
- Vegan Muffins
Expanded Ingredients
- Vegan eggs
- Additional plant-based milks (oat, almond, soy)
- Dairy-free butter
- More lactose-free dairy products
These ingredients could also appear in the grocery system and be used in recipes where appropriate.
Additional Everyday Foods
- Dairy-Free Grilled Cheese
- Vegan Bacon & Eggs (using vegan eggs)
- Dairy-Free Mac & Cheese
- Vegan Pancakes
- Dairy-Free Ice Cream
Another idea would be to expand the Family Recipes system by allowing recipes to be marked as Lactose-Free, Vegan, or other dietary variants. That way, families could keep their favorite birthday cake while adapting it for Sims with dietary restrictions, instead of needing an entirely separate recipe.
The goal isn't to remove the challenge of dietary traits, but to make them feel more complete and realistic. Right now, the traits exist, but the recipe selection hasn't really kept up with them.
Opportunity for Maker Packs
If expanding dietary recipes through a free update isn't possible, another option would be to expand the Maker Program to allow creators to make recipe-based Maker Packs.
There are many talented Simmers who would likely enjoy creating new dietary foods, desserts, and cooking ingredients for the Marketplace. Players who want those additions could purchase them with Moola, while creators are rewarded for their work.
A dietary cooking pack could include:
- Lactose-Free Birthday Cakes
- Vegan Cakes and Desserts
- Dairy-Free Everyday Meals
- Plant-Based Ingredients
- Gluten-Free Baking
It seems like a natural fit for the Marketplace. It would give creators another creative outlet beyond CAS and Build/Buy content while also helping fill a long-standing gap in the game's cooking system.
