I'd love to see the water tool get an upgrade so my Sims can do more with their ponds. It takes a lot of patience and a lot of MOO and debug at the moment to make a more realistic lake house and it's still not as functional as I'd like it to be. They can play in the water but it's not quite enough. There may be mods but console players can't use those.
I just made a lake with a boathouse on a 64x64 lot in Windenburg. But my Sims can't use the boat it's just decorative because I really wanted to build a little boathouse. There were more water plants in debug too to make it look more realistic. We could use more in build mode. I initially tried to place an Outrigger Canoe and Jet Ski from Island Living on the lake but they don't go on a pond, so I used a debug boat and MOO. I've made loads of houseboats and lake houses but it needs plenty of space to do it. I'd love more inland water lots, not just ocean lots and canal lots would be great as I love canal boats.
It's possible to place a pool in a pond and get the Sim to access it via a walkway, but it requires a lot of pond foliage to hide the pool edges.
I love the idea of a sea cave that we can travel to, like the Forgotten Grotto. The caves in Island Living and For Rent are interesting to explore but I'd like to see inside!
I agree. I don't think ponds are recognized as actual water bodies by the game. They function more like a water feature. Many worlds now have areas where you can access a water body for swimming and using water vehicles. However, you can't create a natural water body using the terrain features in build mode. It would also be nice if terrain features were updated to allow sims to create rocky terrain elements such as cliffs and moving water elements such as waterfalls.

pandacookiesims have you tried using the move objects cheat to make little waterfalls? If not, you can use the Fountain Decorations Spraying Water Emitters and any garden rocks. With a bit of manoeuvring you can lift the rocks up, enlarge and stack them and hide the water emitters inside them. It's a bit easier with the Grotto Cascades from the Riviera Retreat kit but can be done just with the Base Game and it creates a pretty waterfall effect for gardens and ponds. There are some different rocks in debug too that I've just used on my lake with a boathouse and blended with the Grotto Cascades.
