BG Life stages: Smooth transitions and longer duration

Can we please have a better life stages? I feel like we have some clear points about them:

1) The incohesive transition from child to teen

2) The lack of difference between teens and elders

3) The good transition from newborns to children

Idk if the devs will give us preteens and better older sims gameplay (which i'd love), BUT i think the kid to elder life stages should be bigger, with minor stages that features some changes that prepare them to the next life stage.

Something like each of them during 2 or 3 sim years (independent of the lifeaoan you're on) or whatever makes more sense with real life, and each one of these 2 or 3 minor stages have differences:

- Kid 1st Stage: Get children skills
- Kid 2nd Stage: Get more interactions
- Kid 3rd Stage: Get partial facial/body hair

- Teen 1st Stage: Get normal skills and interactions
- Teen 2nd Stage: Get change on body shape + full facial/body hair
- Teen 3rd Stage: Get part time jobs

- YA 1st Stage: Allowed to marry
- YA 2nd Stage: Get full careers
- YA 3rd Stage: Take career branches

- Adult: ??
- Adult: Partial grey hair (only hairstyles)
- Adult: Back pain

- Elder: Wrinkles
- Elder: Full grey hair, beard and eyebrows
- Elder: Getting slow walkstyle

Somethings listed are just possibilities allowed at certain stage and others are rules, but they're all linked to the minor life stage a sim is on.

What do you think? Share your suggestions.

  • I don't really play young families so I don't really have an opinion on that. But I think that Young Adult / Adult / Midlife Adult / Elder might need a better transition.

Young Adult can range to full time work, full time post secondary school, or part time work/school, etc. Either venturing for a romantic partner (and settling down) or start playing the field. I'd say Sim wise this is a idea time to work on vocations/skills/starting career(s) while trying to also balance friends/lifestyles.

I think that Adult stage shouldn't get the midlife crisis as it feels in game Adult is what 30s-40s? Which in this day and age isn't exactly considered an over the hill anymore, sure they might start getting grey hair but in some cases the baby fat (young/youthful full face) starts to look defined in a good way. For some that is the age when they are finally financially able to afford a house (well if lucky), and have a family. But, yes, in some cases can start to become grand-parents. But generally Sim wise by this stage they are skilled and career is fairly advanced by now.

Midlife 50s-60s would be more accurate for a midlife crisis, and finishing going grey and starting to go white. And can be grandparents, can retire early, and health problems can start. And maybe some might get cosmetic surgery or treatments.

Elders/Seniors 65+/70+ and should be retiring/retired, may need walking sticks/walkers, may become great-grandparents, etc. However, I like this to also be a linchpin/matriarch/patriarch established family/dynasty member. I'd like them to not just step down from their position because there are younger members. I love the idea of matriarch/patriarch family/career leads that humble others either with wisdom or fear!

  • After seeing people play InZoi and playing Paralives myself adding a Preteen Lifestage felt more realistic another player who said they didn't really care for Preteens after playing Paralives said it felt more sentimental and emotional and it added more game play and it added extra story and fun.

So with Baby-Toddlers I would like a pacifier. For Infants and Toddlers Strollers.

Kids I would like a kid like Bedroom and Bathroom matching and more CAS

Preteen added life span can be shorter then the rest add voice crack, even more dramatic mood swings then the teens, stomping up the stairs and slamming doors, cabinets aggressively, be defiant talking back to parents and older ones. Also since Lisa Frank is coming back why not have a Lisa Frank Collab or an inspired CAS and BB  especially for bedroom and school supplies.

Teen I know teen have some clothes from high school years pack but we need teen clothes CAS kit and actually have an all teen hang out without the group.

YA-A It's fine I guess or A can have an early retirement.

Elder Walker, Cane, or to retirement home, senior citizen discount and center.

Adults in TS4 are about 40-60.

I am skeptical of that because most people wouldn't regard 30s as young adult, at most 18-35 but not all of 30s (and nasolabial lines tend to start in late 20s/early 30s and that is the most physically defining feature of an adult in the Sims game). And people can take early retirement as young as 50s (but also working in their 70s). Hence, my reasoning for adding a midlife adult.
