I've tried two desks, two chairs, and two different computers. The first time with the second desk, chair, and computer, it worked. Then, it no longer worked. It just cancels the action. Now, I've never had this bug. I started a new game after the last update. It's not the action either. With the first desk, chair, and computer, I was trying to get my sim to write a book. With the second, I was having her study for university courses. It worked with the CSI biology course. Now, it's not working with any command! If I seat her first, it will work, but seriously???? Almost a decade of having this work, and now this is broken??
Also, in your list of issues, please do not call them symptoms. They are not symptoms. They are problems. The word problem creates a sense of urgency. Heaven forbid that the devs should feel pressure to fix the bugs rather than creating new content. 🤐
Please start beta testing content before you release it. It's not that difficult. We used to have paid and qualified beta testers. I used to be one. They are trained to write down everything they click so that the devs can see the chain that led to the issue. They check ALL content to make sure that changes didn't break something unexpected. Code gets so dirty in legacy games that mucking about in them often breaks other things, but that is not an excuse to continue releasing this with some many new bugs. I'm going to replace the desk with a dining room table just like the one I have that I had been using. I didn't have this issue with it. However, what good are the desks, if you cannot use them with the computers??
Hey all,
This thread has been closed as this is currently functioning as designed by The Sims team.
If you feel this was in error, please create a new thread here with as much information as you can provide. Thank you!

This is not a solution. Please, mark this as unresolved. There's a routing issue with computers.
If you put a computer on a desk, it doesn't remove that as an available slot. You can still place things on the desk, without bb.moveobjects on, that interfere with the computer slot. Your Sims can also place coffee mugs, plates, etc. in the computer slot, as if the computer wasn't there. It will literally stick out from the center of the computer. If you're having routing issues on an empty desk, you have to go into Build mode to move the computer and see what your Sim has placed inside of that slot. This means that, if you put ANYTHING AT ALL on a desk, your Sims can't use the computer any more. At least not without having them sit first and then use the computer.
It keeps getting marked as resolved, even if I try to make a new post, it keeps getting moved into this forum. No one seems to have put two and two together to see that it's a routing error because computers don't properly take up a slot. It's not a bug. It's not a MOD problem. It's not an intentional design feature. Computers aren't programmed to slot correctly and it's causing routing issues. Please, fix this. I'd love to be able to put a lamp or a stack of mail next to the computer without it causing routing problems! It would also be super nice if my Sims stopped putting dirty dishes inside of computers.

This is what I'm so confused about. I am having the same issue where my sim doesn't use the computer without being directed to sit down first. I saw over and over that it has been marked as resolved since it's 'functioning as designed by the sims team', so I posted this thread in suggestions to see if they would consider changing it but I got two comments saying that their sims game doesn't do this and their sims can use the computers w/o directing to sit first, which leads me to believe this is not functioning as it's supposed to. I'm frustrated that this issue keeps being marked as resolved.
