[BY DESIGN] Sim cancel computer interactions/ Only use while already sitting

For the past few games, I've noticed that when I click on my Sim's computer to have them perform any interaction, such as playing games or looking for work, my Sim doesn't perform the interaction on the computer. I always have to click on the chair in front of the computer for my Sim to sit down, and then I have to click on the computer for my Sim to perform the requested interaction.

This is not a solution. Please, mark this as unresolved. There's a routing issue with computers. 

If you put a computer on a desk, it doesn't remove that as an available slot. You can still place things on the desk, without bb.moveobjects on, that interfere with the computer slot. Your Sims can also place coffee mugs, plates, etc. in the computer slot, as if the computer wasn't there. It will literally stick out from the center of the computer. If you're having routing issues on an empty desk, you have to go into Build mode to move the computer and see what your Sim has placed inside of that slot. This means that, if you put ANYTHING AT ALL on a desk, your Sims can't use the computer any more. At least not without having them sit first and then use the computer. 

It keeps getting marked as resolved, even if I try to make a new post, it keeps getting moved into this forum. No one seems to have put two and two together to see that it's a routing error because computers don't properly take up a slot. It's not a bug. It's not a MOD problem. It's not an intentional design feature. Computers aren't programmed to slot correctly and it's causing routing issues. Please, fix this. I'd love to be able to put a lamp or a stack of mail next to the computer without it causing routing problems! It would also be super nice if my Sims stopped putting dirty dishes inside of computers.

This is what I'm so confused about. I am having the same issue where my sim doesn't use the computer without being directed to sit down first. I saw over and over that it has been marked as resolved since it's 'functioning as designed by the sims team', so I posted this thread in suggestions to see if they would consider changing it but I got two comments saying that their sims game doesn't do this and their sims can use the computers w/o directing to sit first, which leads me to believe this is not functioning as it's supposed to.  I'm frustrated that this issue keeps being marked as resolved.

When I tell my sims to upgrade a computer they instantly cancel the action. I have to tell them to sit down and then upgrade the computer. But they stand up, walk around the chair and then begin the upgrade.

This design is clearly flawed.

For computer options lately, I’ve had to make them sit in the computer chair and then click the computer action or they delete the action like I didn’t request it to be done.  It’s like they don’t recognize there’s a chair there or don’t want to do the extra step before doing what I’ve asked.

Willlove92​  I've noticed this from time to time in my game.  And every time it's happened, the cause has been objects placed on the desktop with MOO that intrude into the computer's footprint.  So, to fix it, turn MOO off.  Grab the computer.  If the footprint is red when you try to place it back, then you've got something else on the desktop that needs to be removed.  Then let the computer snap back in place and grab another object and set it on the floor or elsewhere.  Grab the computer again and check the footprint.  Keep going until the computer footprint is green.  Then try to place the other objects back on the desktop with MOO off.  Delete those that won't go.  After going through this process, you should be able to click on the computer and a sim will go to the location, sit and then do whatever on the computer without having to queue the sim to sit down first.
