Agreed. I am BEGGING for a way to permanently toggle off alien abductions in the game. Or if not, at least for the abductions to respect the "unable to get pregnant" settings my Sims have. I was really hoping that would stop abduction pregnancies, but no! I don't mind the abductions so much, but I'm playing mostly male households and the impregnation side of things is gross to me. I don't want any part of it.
I'm not against using mods to stop this. I HAVE been using one. But since the last game patch it has stopped working. Mods are great, until this happens. So I am desperate for a proper in-game option that doesn't rely on third party fixes getting updated.
There's an in-game item that stops it? Cool. But it has to be re-enabled every 24 game hours. I just want to switch off and forget! Not to mention I don't want to have to put the satellite dish down in my lot.
I've had to go back to using the "resetsim" cheat to rescue my guys when the weird light shows up. It really affects my enjoyment of the game when every night I'm having to keep watch and make sure they're not at risk of getting yanked skywards.
In my search for a more permanent fix I've seen there have been a lot of requests for an in-game setting to prevent abductions, with some dating back years. Seriously, why has this not been added before now?
I love a lot of the Back to Work EP, but this does make me regret the purchase somewhat.
Kisrah, I can go multiple sim generations without an alien abduction in-game. My last abduction was 10 generations ago, and I have played this current save since 2016. That save is 30+ generations deep. The toggle you are asking for was already provided via in-game mechanics by the satellite I mentioned. Yes, that does mean you need to cue the action every 24 sim hours, but it is available. Alien abduction chances are already excessively rare, so you must actively be doing the gameplay that increases the chances. Perhaps disable the pack for a couple of sim generations to see if that helps reset the chance back to it being a rare occurrence. Btw, I have trouble getting it to ever happen at all to my male sims. Normally abduction only happens to my female sims.

Yeah, this doesn't help me. I already said I'm aware of the options currently available, and why they don't work for me. I've very deliberately tried not to engage with anything that increases the odds.
I don't play generations. I have automatic ageing disabled. There are other game mechanics we can turn off to customise our experience. I don't see why this one shouldn't have the option too. Give players choices. It doesn't stop anyone else enjoying these mechanics to give the rest of us an option to turn it off. Shouldn't have to disable a whole pack to avoid one small mechanic.- thecharsims16 days agoNew Ace
If you’re able to use mods, there’s one that I know of that I’ve been using for years and it works like a charm. MCCC. It will also hide the alien disguise if you want it to. If you need help with setting that up, let me know. Otherwise, the only other way that helped me get rid of the alien abductions before I used a mod is via an in game satellite dish that came with Get to Work. It might be a special type of item though as, I don’t think you can find that particular satellite dish without using a cheat. So when you’re in build/buy, open your cheat menu and type in, bb.showhiddenobjects
Afterwards, in build/buy, only select the Get To Work pack under the drop down to isolate just those objects. You should find the satellite more easily this way. Set it up on your sims roof using the bb.moveobjects on cheat. I like to use this cheat to sink the satellite dish a bit further down into the roof using the 9 key so it doesn’t stick out so much on the roof but you don’t have to use the move objects cheat if you don’t mind how it’s normally placed. The satellite will place fine without the cheat on. I also like to use the satellite dish because it adds an alien channel to your sims tv lol Anyway, once you’re back in live mode, click on the satellite and select the option that stops the alien abductions. If that satellite dish doesn’t work after you do all that, then the pack is just broken like everything else smh
Good Luck

I did try MCCC, but didn't like how its menu system worked. Thanks for the suggestion though. Thankfully, I THINK I've got the mod I have been using working again, so hopefully that's the issue sorted for me.
Thanks for the tip on moving the satellite dish around. At least if I end up having to resort to that I can try hiding it a bit!
Honestly, I WANT to play around more with the alien stuff! It's the pregnancy side of things that bugs me more than the actual abductions, and really disappointing that "unable to get pregnant" settings for male Sims are completely ignored by the alien mechanic. I'd be happy if at least THAT much was fixed!

I've been playing the Sims for more than 20 years and I've had exactly one alien abduction in my game in all this time, namely in Sims 4, and they abducted a female who was doing the Strangerville quest. They abducted her in Britechester. I also think that people who get abductions often are regularly engaging in alien related gameplay. Could also be that my sims rarely pursue the logic skill, maybe the aliens don't find them smart enough.
