Cannot Ever Play

It would be nice to actually be able to play the **bleep** game if every time it updated, it didn't break every single one of my mods I've downloaded. Honestly, I spend more time fixing the game than I do playing it. But instead of fixing that- GREAT- they've released another pack for us to buy that will break the game even more- YAY! I'm about to give up playing Sims for this reason that has been stated multiple times.

  • I feel your pain. It's been 20 days since I did the November update on console and I've been able to get into my game only once since then, still broken as we speak so I'm giving up until the next update to see if that fixes the problem that the last 'fix' broke 😠 just read the laundry list and adding a shadow to the Cottage living pack icon is one of the fixes. Yeah cause that's important 🙄

  • Of course, your mods will stop working because the Sims Team didn't create the mods. Mods are made by other people of the community outside of the Sims Team, who have to keep up with the updates of the game and update their mods to go with it. The Sims Team have been giving notice to mod players to download new mod updates before gameplay during their own updates on platforms like EA app and Steam because the mods are not originally part of the game and the Sims Team did give notice that outdated mods will stop working properly. Unless the mod creators become a part of the Sims Team, where they work to update mods at the same time, your problem has no further solution on their side. As soon as there is a new update to the game, the mod creators then get the update and work hard to make a new updated version of their mod by themselves.

Your only solution is keep an eye on the updates, uninstall outdated mods and install new updated mods every game update and if you want to buy the packs, only add the pack to your game when you install the new updated mod.

  • Also, if mod creators join the Sims Team to make their mods update with the game, those mods will have to become DLCs to get the auto-update along with the game itself. A problem in that is that the mod will come under EA copyrights and if there's a disagreement between mod creator and the Sims Team, the mod creator could get fired and lose access to the mod they created, allowing the Sims Team to do whatever they like with the mod made a DLC. Also, the mods that become a DLC might also end up behind a pay wall, where you have to pay to play.

By sticking to the current solution of uninstalling outdated mods and installing new updated mods, you're show support to creator and allow the mods to remain free.

I wish mods were the reason my game is broken, I might have a glimmer of hope to try and fix it, but when you're on PlayStation and can't get past the "press X to play" screen because you press X and nothing happens there's absolutely nothing you can do but close the application and give up. Day 22 and still stuck on that blasted screen and unable to get into the game 😩
