CAS unlock cheat sims on the gallery spreading bug to other sims
When you download certain sims from the gallery, all items are unlocked automatically. It's noticable by the star and golden border always showing up on some CAS items. This is annoying because sometimes you just want a nice sim and not all unlocks, and often it also bugs out the menu and shows some items twice. It's bad because it can spread to other sims when they share a household and be passed on to others through the gallery or to yourself again through your library, causing CAS to bug out on every sim.
The only in-game way to get rid of it (that worked for me at least). (I recommend people save into a new save slot first just in case before doing this should a sim disappear):
- Add a throwaway sim to your infected household, load them into CAS (to make sure the unlocks show)
- Travel with your sims to a lot of a household you know is not infected*
- Pause the game and remove your infected sims from the household with cheats or MCCC except for the throwaway sim
- Go into manage worlds
- Play the uninfected household of the lot you are on, pause time immediately
- Add your infected household sims to the uninfected household via cheat or MCCC, they will no longer be infected
- Go back to manage worlds and move the throwaway sim out of your lot (very important) and delete them from your households menu
- Move your sims back into their home by splitting the household like you usually would via gameplay
*this is important because if too much in-game time passes your sims will disappear from the lot when they are without a household
This happens with and without mods, and in entirely mod-free save files. Some EA-made sims seem affected too. I am on PC.
