Contextual Interactions

I keep wishing there were some way to respond when something significant happens in a sim's life. The pie menu is really bloated if you have a lot of packs, and yet it seems to be missing what often intuitively feels like the right response. My sim can comfort his dog when she's sick, but not his wife. My sim can ask her father if he's a mermaid but can't confront him about cheating on his wife. Sims can take selfies with pumpkins but not their children. Sims can't introduce a new partner to parents or friends.

I've had sims' loved ones get struck by lightning, win Starlight Accolades, get into a preferred college, get married, win soccer games, and pass out in public, and there wasn't anything substantial I could do in response. I've often found it really surprising (and disappointing!) when I couldn't have a sim celebrate another's accomplishments or support one who's going through something difficult. I'm not talking about generic compliment or help out interactions. Many of these events are significant enough to have their own interactions. It would make sims seem more connected.

  • I think this is a great idea. I'd love to see more responses geared towards specific situations.

I'd say learned skill bloat is about so-so, but if your Sim is learning certain skills passively, and you don't care for your Sim to use/have that skill, the interactions do increase in unneeded selections.

That old/out of date mod, is not bad (it helps me quite a bit), but if they make a feature to better account for this (stop gain/prevent skill gain and in turn removes skill based interactions if unset/turned off), I think skill interactions bloat would reduce quite a bit.

Interesting. I've never considered that the bloat is being exacerbated by skill gain. I don't so much mind that my sims can do interactions based on skills, interests, and traits. It's just that these interactions seem to hugely outnumber interactions that have any relevance to the current situation.
Checking out the mod regardless :)

  • Honestly, I wish they implemented a skill lock type feature and interaction filter feature. I currently use a mod, but it is out of date and no longer updated. This helps clean up skill unwanted for certain Sims I have but I'd love it if it extended to remove unwanted interactions too.

For example, if I lock/no learn Singing, then when I click my Sim, they won't have the Practice Singing interaction. Or if I lock/no learn Natural Living Skill, none of those interactions show up.

If this could be expanded to more fine tuning that be great, clean up those pie menus and keep Sims more unique on how you set them up.
