Did we really have to get rid of thirst?

Hello Watchers of dehydrated Sims,

I listened to a Sims podcast from Maxis recently, where they said they got entirely rid of the hidden thirst need.
I've seen for years people complain that Sims autonomously drink water. But from what I got, the problem was Sims left glasses of water in random places, the glasses eventually got spoiled like it was regular food, and Sims immediately had to pee after drinking. Getting rid entirely of the thirst system looks like a lazy solution to a layered problem.
I micro-manage my Sims already, and I really don't feel like adding "drinking water" to the list, because, as much as it makes sense with the trend of reminding each others to drink water, I personally feel thirsty all the time, and I do collect glasses of water in my apartment like a Sim. Or like Sims used to do.
But perhaps it's all a ploy from the Alto corporation to keep water for AI use, I don't know.

I'll end this feedback with a friendly reminder to clean your spoilt glasses of water IRL :D

I enjoyed the thirst autonomous interactions too. I hope they fix it and bring it back instead of removing it forever.

Sorry, but yes, yes we did. I am so thankful. As a player who had many sims drop what I had queued for them to do to obsessively get drinks of water and leave a million dirty glasses everywhere I am glad this problem will be gone. For years this has been a problem.

Thank you, thank you bug team! May this bug  never come back.

    I hope you are right.

  • I mainly just want drinking a single glass of water not to drop the bladder need from green to red and waddling!

  • If they were to keep thirst, I think it should be a visible need or at least somehow overlay with hunger.

Also drinking coffee/tea/mixology drinks/etc. should also satisfy thirst, just not as efficiently as plain water. One glass a day or even two days IMHO should be enough for a Sim, unless a reward trait to be less thirsty and/or never thirsty.

Otherwise, I think thirst should be needed more if a Sim works out, or in hot weather. Foods with more liquid (and less salt) should also help satisfy thirst. That is if we were to keep it.

  • I didn't mind the glasses either and thought the leftover glasses gave a lived in feel to the sims homes.
