Discovery Quests

I accidentally accepted doing quests when I meant to click the x and cancel. Is there any way you can make it possible to back out of doing quests at any time even after accepting? I purposely didn't save my game and quit in hopes that the discovery quest wouldn't still show as accepted, but when I reloaded my game it still showed it was accepted and gave me no option to back out.  I did previously have the discovery quest feature disabled in my settings but it still popped up. I don't want to be made to do tasks to get the quest removed, can you please make it possible for us to back out of quests at any time?
