Not really seing a difference. The family trees can look messy if you have enough generations involved with the old system too. As for the newborn not in your tree, you might want to make a bug report.
It's not a bug, it only shows 9 kids at a time, so if you have more than that, some will not show on the list unless you access the family tree from them.
