Family Trees Visible to other Sims

This may be a moot point if I'm missing something obvious, but if not ...

 Is there a way for player Sims to see the family tree of other Sims?

I know we can switch to controlling other Sims and clicking "Y" to see family trees, but is there a way to check those on other Sims without first doing so?  I seem to recall that being an option in Sims 3.
