I have autism and I can't stand constantly blinking things. It is bad enough that the calendar icon is constantly blinking, now this?
No, this is unacceptable!
And plus, there is a reason why I choose to not buy certain packs! So this horrendous new icon is not gonna magically change my mind.
Please, for the sake of players who have certain disabilities, PLEASE make the blinking stop.

Yeeeeeah, this button is insulting. Forget the flashing (which is also happening for me) this entire thing needs to go ASAP.

Yo I haven't played since the update, but I'm deeply concerned. I was diagnosed with epilepsy, and I worry I can't play now if there is something flashing there.

Same here. And it pisses me off.

It's stopped pulsating, but how do I get rid of it completely? Absolutely useless feature that clutters the already-squished user interface. Disgraceful EA
- GiardiniDiMarzo11 months agoLegend@bageek You need a mod for that, SimMattically on XTwitter made it.
This is beyond agregious. EA continuously releases broken packs and now has done something that actively threatens the health of many of their players. This will trigger migraines and seizures. No one wanted this. We just want a game that works and isn't broken and full of bugs.

This new ‘feature’ is awful. Although I haven’t updated my game yet, seeing it on lilsimsies’ channel was enough to convince me to hold off until either a mod removes it or EA does.
Even without the pulsating issue its still horrible - what was the need? Why do we have this UI clutter forced on us when there is a whole main menu page full of DLC pop-ups and ads, now we get it during gameplay too. This adds nothing of value for the player, only annoyance.
It’s also quite ironic that this ‘feature’ comes out after the release of one of the buggiest DLC we have had for this series of the game, and then you go and add a distracting icon to try and get us to buy more (many which still need bug fixes of their own)? Maybe off-topic but it leaves a bad taste.
No one asked for this, from the responses it seems no one likes it either, please remove it or give us a setting to opt out.

I said it on Twitter and I'll say it here.
Remove the button. I outright refuse to update my game until at the very least the pulsing is outright gone. The new stuff pack looked like a good time but this has soured any thoughts of getting it now.
Not only is the feature extremely triggering for my Autism and ADHD traits, but it's also disgustingly intrusive.
Could it possibly be worse? Yes, any notion or inkling of playing it off as 'just a bug' rings hollow to the community from what I've seen as a normally silent observer. It's been proven by actions time and time again, it's tiring and disappointing.
Ads going past the Main Menu crossed the line and destroys the gameplay immersion, and this button needs to go.

With the new developments and the emergency patch, I thought I'd weigh in again. - If you are curious about my previous comment it's on page 5. Linked here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/FIXED-Pulsating-Shopping-Button/m-p/13520447#M270905
To start, I stopped giving the benefit of the doubt a long time ago with this game. This button is dead on arrival and the audacity to keep it in after all the backlash is just insane to me. If the pulsing is 100% gone in EVERY capacity that's a good start but it's nowhere near enough to resolve the discontent in the community as a whole on this subject.
Remove the button that absolutely no one asked for. I'm a silent observer 99.9% of the time, but this is one egregious miss-step I and many others are not going to just drop because of a hotfix.
It genuinely clutters the UI also adding to the in-game accessibility nightmare; even without the pulsing it's still intrusive and immersion-breaking in gameplay.
It should not be the modders' responsibility to fix the game's missteps, mistakes and bugs. I really feel for console players who don't have the option of mods.
- 12 months ago@SnowyMarriner Agreed with all of this.
The fact that they say the flashing was "longer and more [frequent] than intended" tells me that they don't plan on removing the flashing entirely, in spite of the mental and physical health concerns raised by the community.

I want to say that I also didn't like and don't agree with this update. In addition to being distracting from the gameplay, it is a terrible marketing strategy. And placing it next to the gallery button on purpose is audacious and disrespectful, to say the least. We already have too many ads on the home page.

How often does the bug occur? 100%
What is your current game version number? 1.105.297.103

What do you expect to see? No pulsating (and remove it, please!)

Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? 1.105.297.103
- 12 months ago@ArthieLefort Also notice how the cart button is *bigger* than the other UI buttons? Yeah, totally a bug and not a feature /S
- Nan22fly12 months agoRising Scout@EA_Cade This button will harm people with disabilities. My sister loves to play the sims. She has ADHD and I was surprised to see her NOT play this game because of how distracting and annoying that button is. EA please just remove this button or place it somewhere out of game.
Please remove this button!
The pulsating is horrible and distracting, but even the existence of the button is an insult to players. If I spend 1000$ on a product, I deserve a user experience that does NOT include getting ads shoved at my face every two seconds. The main menu is already full of adds, and I get pop up ads too when I open the game. Is that not enough??
- cheekyimp12 months agoRising Hotshot
Is it not enough that not only does the game main menu push unpurchased packs at you, and the game launcher also tells you of packs you don't have, that you have to add a pulsing shopping cart icon which is distracting, that I can't turn off, even if I own every thing? I mean really? Come on, we do not need to purchase a pack whilst playing the game, ever, I can't see any one needing to do this, at least with sims 3 I could turn off the nagging you don't own this item things in the build/buy/cas menus. And whilst we are at it, the in game calendar pulsing and shaking when I've not looked at it for 5mins is annoying too, now there are two icons doing this, save me!
- 12 months ago@cheekyimp You're right, and it's not like we could even implement a purchase while playing the game anyway. It would require a game restart in order to get the new DLC integrated and running, so I wonder what the point even is?
It's baffling to me that someone at EA signed off on this "feature" but then again, it seems clear that no one took the time to consider the larger concerns of accessibility and of an immersive game experience, much less took a second to think about the actual point of this shopping button and how it would realistically work.
- 12 months ago@EA_Cade restarting the game doesn't make the flashing go away, just fyi.
- daikoyu12 months agoSeasoned Ace
@SafireStargazer I own all, but a friend of me not. She wrote that it helped for her if she goes under Game Options -> Other -> disable Online Features Access + Online Notifications and then restart the game (which a bummer for her because she loves to use the gallery)
Its maybe enough just to disable Online Notifications + restart the game. I can’t test it and my friend don’t want to start the game again as long it has this button (she waits for a mod to remove it)
