Friendship Bar reduces when Sims interact

I noticed for some time that the friendship bar would reduce whenever my Sims had an interaction, but I mainly saw this when it was a romantic interaction. Even when it was a simple action, such as "Get to know," the friendship bar would decrease for some reason.
