Horse Genetics and Gameplay Neglect

I recently bought the Horse Ranch expansion and loved it up until I noticed two things. You can't "ride together" or "ride together here", there are no interactions to let you have more screentime with a partner or friends with horses. I think for a game pack that costs as much as the original game, EA really dropped the ball on such a simple gameplay aspect, horses are not as interactive as you'd think. The second thing that bothered me was horse genetics, I was so excited to see my new foal only for it to be an exact copy of the father, they did this with cats and dogs too but not quite as bad. The laziness and money grabs of EA is starting to turn me off of the game, the Sims 3 had so much more detail not just in gameplay but in genetics as well. If the genetics system was fine in the last game why make it completely useless in the next? They also took away the ability to control your pet which was another dumb idea, it took away so much interaction and storyline with your pets. This next one isn't as bad as the others but for the price you pay for this pack, it's ridiculous that you can't see the horse competitions or anything in that building, it was unbelievably disappointing. Will EA ever listen to their consumers and add updates to packs? My advice is to play Sims 3 or use mods if you have a PC, Sims 4 just isn't worth the money.

  • Yeah the genetics of the horses is really bad. The offspring will always just be a clone of either the mother or father horse, which is quite annoying.

Luckily you can edit the foals in CAS to change their appearance if it's not up to your expectations. I haven't seen this happen in my game, they've had a different coat colour to the parents. But it can be addressed with the coat colour and pallete, paint mode, etc.
