I agree. I hate that my early graduates have to keep dealing with prom stuff, including negative sentiments from friends/romantic interests for not inviting them to prom. Of course, there wasn't a prom invite, they're in college now. No time for prom...also I know it's been a very long time but my high school very much frowned on graduated students showing up at school functions.
Yes, my son was in the Army and a girl he very much wanted to have as a girlfriend invited him to escort her to her Prom. Mind you he was only 19 and she very close to 18. She had to go through hoops to gain permission, too. And he came in his uniform, all the way from Hawaii where he was stationed at the time.
