SIMS 4 is a fallen disgrace

Imagine being a Sim player from the start, watching the franchise grow, spending ridiculous amounts  of money on packs / add ons, and TIME. So much time has been spent building homes, creating worlds, making stories.

Then imagine you are forced to play your game(s) online, through an app.

Only EVERY SINGLE TIME you have availability to play you are forced to sit through an update.

A very long update that cuts into all of your free time.

We should be able to play our games OFFLINE and bypass ridiculous events or whatever other platforms they are trying to merge into the SIM world now.

The lack of care the developers seem to have for their clients (especially those of us who started from day one) leaves a nasty taste in one's mouth.

Making money seems to trump quality and care as they are quick to create some lackluster pack, driving up cost.

It has been almost 6 months since I have been able to play and I used to be on every weekend.

Building homes was my way to de-stress.
Psh .. not anymore.

And then the platform EA itself has the WORST support and overall gameplay.

Start the EA App and click the three bars. Choose Go Offline.

Hi. Just reading and thinking I might decide to do this as well.  Could you tell me what are the differences in the gameplay between playing online or offline? Do you still get access to the gallery? Are you still able to play all packs (that you purchased)?  Is anything taken away by doing this? Thank you.

You can't access the gallery. (If my memory is correct you can still save your Sims to your library though I'm not 100% sure) You can't participate in reward events. Other online content like links to surveys and trailers about new packs won't load. Yes you can play with packs but I don't own all the packs yet and haven't played with all the packs I own.

You can test out the experience offline and simply go back online if there's anything you don't like about it. I personally both play online and offline time to time. Like if I'm building today I play online so I can use the gallery. When there're events happening I play online. But if I'm just playing around with my Sims or creating CC I do it offline.

How long it takes to update will depend on your computer and internet connection. I haven't found it takes more than 10 minutes usually on my 3-4 year old gaming laptop and 75mb internet, so it can be reasonably fast on a pretty average setup. You may have other things influencing the speed of updates if it's taking much longer than that.

Thank you for this information. I have another question. If I can go back and forth between online and offline, does that mean that I will be able to purchase the Legacy EP when it comes out, download it to my account, and then go back to offline playing with the new pack?

    Thanks again.
