I think this would be ground breaking

I’m sure the sims team are up to their necks trying to desperately please people again, it’s obvious a lot of love has gone into sims 4 but it missed the mark, but I think with my suggestions although some may be harder to develop, the sims 4 could become the adored game we all wanted it to be.

number 1 (the hard one, might not be possible) but making it open world.
the joy I have booting up the sims 3 just to watch them walking their dog down the street or the kids going trick or treating on Halloween or watching them jog to the gym created a sense of realism and gave the sims 3 the glorious bones it has even today, it increases playability hugely and although would be no easy task, imagine how much more money people would be willing to spend on the game if this became a reality, I know for a fact I’d be so happy and play it constantly like I did sims 3.

Bring back the grocery and book store

theres no fun in buying things from the computer or just being able to cook by paying simoleons, if they implemented a feature where you could only cook food if you had the groceries in the house otherwise you don’t eat until you go to the shops, it would make the world so much more immersive and realistic without “realism” just meaning better graphics, I think it would make it so much more fun, and if you don’t want to go to the shops you could order specific groceries from your phone, maybe even implement a little grocery list feature!

make holidays more spread apart and not so much of a required thing

ita so much pressure when every week in your sims world you have a holiday pop up that’s not a fun thing to plan because of the lack of playability and you can’t just cancel it without your sim getting a negative emotion, I’d like it to feel more immersive like having a Christmas Eve, Christmas and Boxing Day and it be more fun to plan and decorate and invite people, and less often and so many random things like speak like a pirate day or something, it just feels quite forced that it was a desperation to keep things engaging by making random holidays every 5 minutes but I feel like my sim barely ever gets to go to work because there’s a day off for nearly every one

next one! The create a design tool!!

Not to be passive aggressive here but giving simmers limited options for designs and colours was a bad idea, if it was possible in the sims 3 so many years ago, it’s possible now. Again increasing playability dramatically, one of my biggest frustrations is feeling like I HAVE to download custom content to even get decent clothing options, like why does hair only have like 10 colours? Why do I have to either have black hair or grey, why can’t I have an inbetween and do highlights like I used to on sims 3? Why can’t I design my own sofa? This kind of fix would be HUGE to the community and I know for a fact it would bring a splash of the heart from sims 3 into the sims 4 and make people so much more engaged like they used to be and willing to spend money, basically just copying the design system from sims 3 and bringing it to sims 4 with all new themes, textures, designs, a full catalog maybe even bigger than before and colour customisable with a colour wheel would be fantastic, like what was done with the pets fur customise section.

I’m going to leave it there but for me, these things are the absolute meat of what I would love to see happen to absolutely transform the game, they’ve probably been said before but this is what gave the sims 3 heart and made us so excited for sims 4 to see the improvements that would be made, which yes the sims 4 aesthetically is excellent, but when the bones are wrong, doing patch updates won’t help long term playability, it just gets people excited temporarily for the bare minimum, also please be kind I’m not hugely into all the sims drama and communities I’m just a player that wanted to come and pray that my comment gets seen and recognised

  • N. 1: I totally agree but maybe try for "open neighborhoods"? I think it's more close and possible to what we want.

    N. 2: I've ssen many people ask for grocery store but it'd be different from Get to Work's retails? We have this ingredient gameplay with Cottage Living's Simple Living lot trait (sometimes i really think it should be base game but idk).

    N. 3: Yeah the surprise holidays makes me crazy too. 😭

    N. 4: I'd also like to customize things' colors a lot more. If not in the level of detail from The Sim 3 than just a paint mode would be enough for me.
